I was at the show too, baw. How much did you get tickets for? I'm surprised you got them for cheap, as the arena looked pretty full. But the same thing happened last time SP played at Erwin Center. It didn't sell out and I could have gotten much better seats for the same or less $ off of StubHub.

When I looked for Smashing Pumpkins on Ticketmaster I was able to get 2 seats together for $48 per seat, base price before all the Ticketmaster fees. My wife ended up getting some of her friends to drive over and come with us and bought the tickets all at once so I think we ended up having to pay like $70 per seat to get seats together.

We're abotu the same age. I would 100% go if I were you since this is pretty much gonna eb the last chanace you have so see any live Floyd members. I can't stand his politics either but don't let that be the reason you look back 30 years from now and say you never got to see em.

Gotta say, I honestly didn't enjoy the show all that much. Might have been better to look back 30 years from now in ignorance.

Roger doesn't sound good. His time is obviously long past him. The musicians he plays with are certainly talented, but there are billions of Pink Floyd cover bands out there with excellent musicianship if I want to listen to non-Pink Floyd musicians play Pink Floyd.

Aside from the music itself, I thought the show was underwhelming. The lighting and effects put on by Smashing Pumpkins the night before were far better, in the same arena, for a much better price. And to compare with Paul McCartney's show I saw in May, well, that was in an entirely different universe of production.

The show format just doesn't work well. It's hard to see all of the musicians since the stage is essentially split into quadrants in-the-round, and the big arse screen is used far, far more for political messaging than it is for showing the musicians performing. There were long moments where I couldn't see the musician playing (e.g. during a sax solo) because he was on a different section of stage and they weren't showing him on the screen.

As for the political messaging, I consider myself politically homeless without a "side" -- I agree with some of Roger's opinions and not others. But his messages come off as extremely naive with no consistency, which makes the extreme in-your-face nature of his opinions just sad. Like a teenager who thinks he's figured the whole world out and starts just screaming obscenities when discussion starts.

I put the politics aside, but what pissed me off more than anything was the messages on the screen during intermission.
1 - I was disappointed that the altered version of Comfortably Numb sucked, the new version is slowed down, whispered, and has no guitar solo. He put up messages on the screen mocking people asking what happened to the guitar solo, so obviously he knew fans would be disappointed, but frick them, right?
2 - He put up messages mocking David Gilmour
3 - He put up messages mocking the Weeknd and Drake

Why? Because he's just an insufferable prick. It's honestly just sad the person he's turned into. I don't think he even cares much about the issues he pushes. He's just a smug, holier than thou a-hole with a huge ego problem. Obviously, I'm not the first to say this about Roger Waters, but it's sad to see it all in front of me in a production form. The irony of it all is that he is the Pink character and his show is the fascist propaganda rally from The Wall. All the hate included.

Thankfully, the Smashing Pumpkins show redeemed my stay in Austin, and as big of an a-hole as we all know Billy Corgan is, he didn't put it on display.

Now, moving on from that -- has anyone here seen the Nick Mason Saucerful of Secrets show? He has dates for the rest of the month, and being disappointed with Roger, my wife and I just spent more money than we probably should on a trip to see his show in Phoenix. I know it's all the earlier stuff but we love that era of Floyd too.

What are you talking about “credited?”

Credited by whom?

Credited by the band itself. They tell you who wrote the lyrics and who wrote the music. That is extremely important because the songwriter gets a songwriting credit in addition to a publishing credit which means they get more money from sales. Below is the song credits from wiki for Wish You Were Here. Roger Waters dominated this album as well as Dark Side and The Wall. Their best stuff. You can google who the songs yourself if you don't believe me.

That didn't happen at the show I was at.

I agree the version sucked though.

I saw them in Houston and agree that it was a great show and didn't try to push his a-hole views onto the crowd. Did SP have an encore in Austin? They didn't at the Houston show and really left me feeling disappointed when the house lights came on.

There wasn't an encore at the Austin show either. I wasn't that disappointed though because they had played everything I had been really hoping to hear, and we had already been at the arena for 5 hours at that point. The seats were starting to empty out by the time their set was over.

you pretty much just listed everything I have said about Waters on this site over the past 12 years.

I think WGDawg has the exact same opinion. He acts like a teenager trying too hard and he should have learned more since he is 75 years old

Great review

Honestly, Brit Floyd puts on the best Pink Floyd show these days. I have been to see them in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Colorado at Red rocks. They put on a great show and change their setlist every year

There is also a small cover band out of Atlanta called Interstellar Echoes that is very good. Jim Gorman and the guys there do a fantastic job and they are old Floyd fans.

Same here. I was disappointed with the crowd leaving so I don't hold it against Corgin.

Total music time for us was 7:20p-10-55p. I left wanting more from both bands..

I haven't but the clips on YouTube look great. Its cool they're playing that older stuff that doesn't get enough attention. I hope to see them but I've probably missed my chance.
