I've never done acid and have been sober for years and can still relate to their music. Dark side is always going to be amazing.

Now the wall is definitely better high.

I didn't realize it was broadcast live. No tape delay or editing at all? Pretty amazing for back in the day. And I thought Metallica was amazing for broadcasting the 40th anniversary shows live.

Im sure it was not live. I used that term lightly.

It was played on TV. I was only 5 so I cant say to its quality.

Man Yall got me all fired up. Done put on Obscured by Clouds and have Meddle on deck... Good night for the wife to work. Will sit here and chill for the evening...

When Pink Floyd played there in 1972, there were no fans. It was a daytime recording that was played on live TV. No fans...

It was October 1971 when they played there, and it was filmed over several days to create the initial 60 minute cut of the film. I have a copy of that cut and it obviously isn't a live broadcast. Are you saying there is other footage from a single day's show at Pompeii? I've never heard of this.

eta: nevermind, you answered already, lol

Ah, I was confused. That would make a lot more sense. That would have been amazing to pull off back then.

I'm sure Metallica wasn't the first to pull off the stream they did back in December but it sure was amazing. Will always be a top 5 moment of my life, no matter how much longer I live.

I've taken acid a few dozen times and not once have I ever been able to actually make myself sit down and listen to Pink Floyd while on it.

Pot, though, is a different story.

Yea,I was going off my memory that is not good. I was thinking that concert happened in early 72.

How old is your copy? A new remastered copy?

Were there any fans there? Seem to remember it just being the band recording. But hell yes, put me down.

No fans, but I have a time machine. I'm assuming the particulars will just fall into place.

Sober/stoned/tripping....whatever, I can listen to anything from Arnold Layne to Money and be fine.

Unfortunately, it's not a real physical copy. That'd be cool to own, though.

Over the years I've created a digital collection of everything Pink Floyd has officially released (not including bootlegs or anything like that) in the highest possible resolution/bitrate quality released, including the different mixes (2.0, 4.0, 5.1, etc.) split into organized folders by year, everything converted to lossless FLAC or MKV remux from original source. It's a little bit over 250gb. I'm a huge fan of surround sound music, so I love hitting up the 24-bit/96khz 5.1 mixes sourced from the Blurays they've put out in the past few years. I have a few different cuts of Live at Pompeii stored, but they're hard to find on the internet in good quality, and only the 2016 cut is in 5.1 HD.

You do realize The Wall is a very political album?

Yes I do. And there is a difference in having a political message inside a song, than going out of your way to put a blown up “TRUMP IS A PIG” sign behind you on stage.

I couldn’t agree more. We all have a right to believe in what we want. I don’t judge people based off their beliefs but if you’re gonna bash people for not agreeing with you then it becomes a problem. And there’s a lot of that on both sides of the aisle unfortunately.

Once upon a time I had a huge collection of Pink Floyd CDs. Import/foreign release stuff, bootlegs, all the officially released albums I could find.

All it took was one broken window when I was in Birmingham for a concert and most of them were gone, along with 300ish other CDs. I'm still pissed about that.

If you haven't heard of redacted.ch and are comfortable with piracy, you might could find some stuff there you don't have have. Unless that's where you've already sourced it from.

Agree. I dont dislike Roger. I just dont believe the same thing he does. That alone would never keep me from going to see him. But the way it is presented keeps me from being able to enjoy the show

He and David both have beliefs that I am totally on the other side from. But the music is a life long obsession for me. Regardless, it has not stopped me from loving it for over 40 something years.

Given The Final Cut is simply an album of songs rejected from The Wall because they weren't good enough, I don't think anyone could legitimately believe The Wall is their worst album.

True. The Wall is a great album. Considering all the visual things (Movie, artwork) that go with it, it is very cinematic. I really like the Wall but I think Animals is Rogers best work basically on his own. I prefer it over The Wall. Not a fan of The Final Cut overall. Some of the cuts are good. Just not my cup of tea

And I agree, there is no way The Wall is the worst album and I very seriously doubt many believe it to be so

I saw Waters perform the Wall a few years ago. It was quite good. It was more of a theatrical show than a concert.
