re: Real estate or stock market? - YankeeDoodle
What is a good minimum amount of capital you would need?
I'd like to tack onto this and ask what would you would look for in a typical potential house to buy? Probably a broad question but I literally have zero knowledge on RE and it has always interested me. ...

re: Real estate or stock market? - YankeeDoodle
Yea I agree that a 2008 downturn would be very tough to watch happen to my stocks but so would having bad tenants or even no tenants for a couple of months. Different scales of bad but I also value any time I have and think I would rather take slightly less returns while doing less work than vice ve...

re: Real estate or stock market? - YankeeDoodle
Doesn't take much effort to dump money in an index fund and rebalance twice a year. That's my plan as of now.
This is what I'm thinking of doing right now. I think real estate has the higher upside but I dont think I have the stomach to be a landlord. I would think a good bit of y...

re: Frankie Marcello's reviews... - YankeeDoodle
Went there a few weekends ago. Havent been to Marcello's since it was at its old location by the Bulldog. It was a lot worse than I remember it being at that location. Food was ok but service and general feel was unimpressive....

re: What can I do with state retirement when leaving for private? - YankeeDoodle
We're you in a self directed plan? Then you can roll it over. If you were in the traditional plan, your money did not belong to you, as you weren't vested or making additional contributions beyond the states contribution on your behalf. LASERS has a website full of info......
I am ...

What can I do with state retirement when leaving for private? - YankeeDoodle
Left state job for private job a little while ago...I had contributed about $8,000 to their state retirement/pension system (LASERS). My question is what options do I have to do with that money? Can/should I roll it over into an index fund in my vanguard account penalty free or my work 401k? O...

re: what shows have you given up on? - YankeeDoodle
American horror story - quit mid episode when I saw the 2 headed girl. Not for me anymore. Girls - quit after the all sex episode with Lena and the doctor in his apt. Disgusting Sleepy Hollow - wish I kept up with it but didn't have time and it did not keep me completely interested. Modern Fa...

re: Shameless Season 5 Thread - YankeeDoodle
That was a lot of gay sex in one episode.
More like gay oral!!! But really, strange world where you can make eye contact with someone and then get a good double jerk in the parking lot with his baby brothers next to him. Now we know what's really going on when we see gay people...

re: "Serial" Podcast Discussion Thread...SPOILERS - YankeeDoodle
Yea that last episode pushed me back and forth the whole time and then left me confused. I wanted to believe that the killer guy that got out of prison did it but Jay knowing where the car was and having his story throws that theory away. I don't think Adnan did it but who the hell knows....

re: Pelican Credit Union-Kasasa Checking Account - YankeeDoodle

Pelican Credit Union-Kasasa Checking Account - YankeeDoodle
Anyone have any experience with this account? I have looked into it and it looks like a solid replacement for my online savings account. It offers 4.01% APY compared to the ~0.9% my current online account gets. To receive the 4% interest, you must qualify by doing the following: -Minimum $10,0...
