Just got back and I loved it, defiantly better than the prequels. Would like to see it again before I decide to rank it amongst 4-6. Also got to meet Daniel Fleetwood's wife there (The first fan who got to see Star Wars due to being diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma) and she was dressed as Rey.

What questions do you have?

Seems like minutia to delineate the origins of the Resistance and the Order more than saying they came out of the Rebels and the Empire.

The only question I really have is who the supreme leader is and I don't mind having some mystery going into the next movie

Definitely my least favorite scene.

But you have to remember that you are watching part 1 of 3. You aren't meant to have open and shut story lines and explanations.

Hell, Harry Potter went over a decade to answer basic questions. It's part of what makes it good and brings you back.

It was a good movie with a bad script.
This right here.

Most of you are still in shock, but this is the way it is. Plus, Driver sucked and Fisher literally made me cringe. I had to look away a couple of times.

Just got back from it. Aside from the fact I thought it was obviously retarded to carry BB-8 into the bar, I really think the film is pretty much perfect. It's exactly what it needed to be. The new characters are great, the returning characters are great, it's funny, there's tragedy, there's drama, it's simple, and it has a soul. In short it's everything the prequels weren't. It doesn't have a single flaw or anything in common with them, and everything the original trilogy did well returns triumphantly.

Seriously, I liked every character in the movie, and I wanted to see more of them (although Hux wasn't that good and Phasma was lacking a bit, but they all survived so I'm sure they'll be back for more in Episode VIII).

Daisy Ridley is going to be a star. She made Rey instantly relatable and likable without saying a damn word. I really liked Rey in this movie, and really she's a much better protagonist than Luke ever was.

Finn is a great deuteragonist where you can feel what he's going through. Poe is highly affable and great. Isn't it nice seeing how great of a pilot he is instead of us being told that and not really seeing any reason to believe it?

And Adam Driver really pumped some humanity into Kylo Ren and I found myself liking him. Really this is where Anakin should have been at the end of Revenge of the Sith. I can't wait to see where they take the character.

The action is back to being realistic and I never thought to myself this is an overly choreographed mess or just shite all over the screen I couldn't keep up with. I think I could always count on how many ships or soldiers there were on screen and I knew who was fighting who and why. They found creative things to do with the Force that we hadn't exactly seen before; that was very refreshing. And I'm hesitant to say it, but I think the Rey/Finn vs Kylo Ren might have been the best duel in the series. Instead of a guy you don't know killing a stupid drunk, we get personal stakes between the characters and passion. I'm hesitant to put it higher than the Return of the Jedi duel, but it's up there and had a truly great character defining moment for Rey.

Yeah, the final act I think JJ just put together at the last minute knowing it just being a chase film wasn't going to completely work in the first chapter, so he just put the Death Star in for good measure, and they destroy it again, and the droid is the plot device again, but you, it works. Wish they had kept Starkiller Base around, but I'll take it.

In short, it's all fantastic and definitely a must see for everyone.

And tell me why the republic is backing the resistance.

I think that's just common sense: Because the First Order are the remnants of the Empire.

Oh, and I just remember: Did they blow up Coruscant or was that just a random city planet?

Kylo was emotional and trusts his powers too much and hasn't completed his training.

Hes dark side Luke from ESB, and that explains why he decided he didn't need bb8.

He doesn't know rey has force abilities and we saw him getting info from his interrogations at the begging of the movie.

Leaving bb8 makes perfect sense.

Why is Finn different from the other storm troopers raised up to be soldiers?

The resistance is sponsered by the Repubkic and the First Order is the Empire. What does that mean? is it like two countries? Is the war still going on? What?

Others too but my mind is fried and I can't remember.

I'm wondering though if Rey and Kylo were at Luke's Jedi Academy at the same time.

It might explain how Rey saw that Knights of Ren flashback scene when she touched Anakin's lightsaber for the first time.

It's amazing to me to see two really good posters on this board have such a difference of opinion about this movie. I haven't seen it yet, but I must say I'm even more intrigued now.

Why doesn't the republic have its own real military with capital ships and the like?

Yeah, Harrison hasn't been shy about shite talking "Return of the Jedi" in the past and how he's still pissed that they made a film for babies and they didn't kill off his character. When he's now doing mad praise about this movie and loving the script, it's clear Han was going to die.

Oh, and by the way, did anyone else understand that Kylo Ren is evil and has turned to the dark side? It kind of went over my head since he wasn't butchering children and his eyes didn't turn yellow.

She saw lots from that lightsaber touch... most of which was not her past... but those close to her.

I agree. I don't think it's perfect but it's damn near close. Only other movie I liked better this year is Mad Max.

Still, Driver was great. Opinions will be split on him. Mainly because he was on Girls and no one will take him seriously. If he was beloved on this board and an Oscar nominee, people who hate him would love his acting. Face it, it wasn't that bad. He was whiny because he's still young and not entirely trained. It was part of the character. Even Snoke at the end said send Kylo Ren to me so I can complete his training.

They'll get to that. We didn't know in the original, so I don't know why they'd go out of their way to explain it here.

It wasn't until the clones that they had those... if the republic split from the empire, that makes sense.

It's starting to seem like you don't know much about the old movies. Some of your questions are answered there.
