I wouldn't spend a dime on this movie at this point. Not even to give it a review. I work too hard for my money.

I'm not going to purchase a ticket for this movie.

Is it really this shitty, or is this an example of bad reviews because of the production shitshow, as opposed to the film itself (a la John Carter)?

Yeah it seems like the kind of movie that is cool to hate even if it isn't that bad

It might not have been that bad if they called it Hero Squad.
Instead they shite all over a loved and well rooted Marvel IP at the height of marvel's popularity in movies.

I'll let you know after I see it tonight.
From the serious reviews that I've read, it sounds like the director was trying to get away from the standard three part origin movie (origin/become hero/fight villain) and the studio stepped in to try to steer it back towards the norm.
So if we'd gotten the intended movie, people would've hated it for being sad, slow, and not the usual superhero formula. And now with the additions, it's appears to be a mish-mash that doesn't seem complete.
John Carter was a complete movie. It suffered from a weak marketing message and critics who labeled it as "bad" based solely on it's financial status. But it was a good film and a decent representation of Burroughs.

The sad thing is, except for Jessica Alba, the casting was perfect in the first movies. Just needed a better script. And really, the problem I think most people had with the first movies is they were so cartoony compared to Xmen and Spider-Man. MCU movies strike the perfect balance between gritty and fun, and that's where F4 needs to be. Sounds like it didn't happen and all we got was a weird cast in a dull movie.

He was also trying to get away from everything about the fantastic four in the comics other than the character's names.
If they would've retitled this movie Hero Squad they might have had a cool original new super hero idea.
Instead they gutted and skullfricked a Marvel IP.
Let us know how the movie is.

If they'd named it Hero Squad, they'd've let down the children of America.

I just picked a random name.

the Nip/Tuck sucked as Doom, but at least they got the look right

almost all the Marvel characters will be over at Disney in the MCU except for the X-Men.
I'm good with Keeping the Mutant universe separate from the "superhero" universe anyway.

FF franchise sit for awhile or not even bother at all with it.
I agree, but I still think a great FF movie could be made.
It's also Marvel's first hit and it has sentimental value for (some)Baby Boomers. It's sad the movies it has gotten. I agree, push it back until like 2025 for a reboot.
I think Marvel already has their schedule penciled out about that long anyway.

Well I'm going to try and be objective. It's obvious that I am against this project, but how terrible it is another question.
Is it in the Catwoman/Elektra realm?Or is it the X3/Origins space? Are the first two F4 movies better? That's the question.
The tough part from what I read so far, is that it takes it self too seriously to even laugh at unintentional comedy.
I will be laughing at the terrible green screen,Thing CGI,Doom's look and Mara's obvious wig.
