Here is what wiki says about Zatanna's power limitations:

quote:

The limits of her powers have never been clearly established. She is often depicted working alongside the most powerful magic-users on Earth, including Doctor Fate, Madame Xanadu, John Constantine, and Captain Marvel. She has used her powers to command elemental forces, heal, transmute and transmogrify objects, manipulate minds, and attack her opponents with energy blasts. She has resurrected the city of Metropolis from ruin, merged Aquaman's spirit with the entire ocean in the finale of the "Obsidian Age" story arc,[26] and manipulated time and space. During a portion of her initial tenure with the Justice League, her powers were more limited, consisting in the manipulation of fire, air, water, and earth. Furthermore, her powers seems tied to her self-confidence, as the long series of blunders described in Seven Soldiers left her both emotionally and psychologically shattered, powerless, until she was able to restore her lost confidence.

seems far'fetched to me. Doesn't seem consistent on the powers and abilities. Voided

This what I thought, too. Wasn't this addressed during the Batman vs Raven debate? It was decided he wouldn't know who she was or what her powers were. At least, that's what I remember.

For the first round yes. But I assumed in a tournament they would watch the other fights.

I'll give you Shazam, but explain to me how Flash beats Superman without going back in time and killing baby superman.

And I thought it was canon that Superman has already beat Thor? Is that not the case?

ETA: Keep in mind that Flash doesn't even know who superman is in this tournament

Poo. You can't come bustin up in here in the 3rd round trying to wreck shop dude. Rules and precedent have already been established.

Zatanna is not Gypsy. Zatanna is a legitimate magical badass.

Flash can vibrate his molecules through even Superman's Kryptonian hide (he's done it before, although it was pre-Crisis). With that, he just vibrates his hand with a rock in it into Superman's head then leaves it there.

Match #1
Zatana - She says efink traeh and a knife appears in his heart.

Match #2
Shazam - no contest

Match #3
Wonder Woman - Toss up. I can be persuaded to change my mind

Match #4
Hulk (Planet Hulk)- Hulk gets mad enough to tear him apart.

Match #5
Superman - He's Superman

Match #6
Flash (Barry Allen) - Flash is too fast for Spidey

Match #7
Green Latern (Hal Jordan) - GL makes a auto-cannon construct that he can shoot projectiles at her with enough force to kill her.

Match #8
Jean Grey - Since it was decided in the last round that not only is she an omega class telepath, but that she is also an omega level telekentic, then I don't see how Thor stands a chance since all she has to do is incapacitate him in accordance with the rules of the tournament(since he is immortal).

I'll give you that. But all Superman has to do is hover 20 feet in the air so Flash can't touch him, freeze the ground with ice, and then blast Flash with heat vision. Heck, really all Supes has to do is hover, keep blasting at Flash with his heat vision until Flash tires out so Superman can hit him.

Heck, that's nothing for Superman. Really there is no way for Flash to even touch Superman once Supes is in the air.

I'm not sure if the Marvel and DC matchups are cannon or not in each respective universe.

Funny thing is Thor beat Shazam in Mavel v. DC, and Superman beat Thor in Avengers/JLA (I'm sure there would be those that argue the point but it sure looked like a beating). And appareantly Shazam has beaten Superman? (I didn't read that storyline if there is one).

The only wiggle room some may find in the Thor/Supes matchup is that I think it took place in the DC Universe which may give some kind of power advantage to Superman.

I didn't read that storyline either, but I thought they fought to a stand still.

Outside of maybe GA, Nightwing, Batman and a few others, DC is just so lame. No offense to the fans. Look how many are left and how close they are to unbeatable/one or two weaknesses.

While Zatanna and Blue Beetle can just think things and do then create them from nothing and Superman/Shazam are genius, God-Tier Strong and Fast. I mean what's the point?

It could be that we aren't schooled enough on DC as a whole, we left out Scarlet Witch because she would be a huge problem, and as mostly Marvel fans we knew that. To me, Zatanna and Beetle fall under that rule as well. Superman, should have just been God Tier, along with Shazam, Power Girl, and the rest.

Match #1
place #1: Firestorm
place #2: Zatana
Firestorm has fire coming out of his head, Zatana say's eci and he's toast.

Match #2
place #1: Shazam
place #2: Hellboy
I feel like Shazam has one too many powers for Hellboy

Match #3
place #1: Wonder Woman
place #2: Black Bolt

Match #4
place #1: Hulk (Planet Hulk)
place #2: Ghost Rider
This is a tough one, I just started Planet Hulk but if my research is correct at this point he is disconnected from Bruce, so I'm thinking Ghost Rider doesn't have a knock out blow here and Hulk wins.

Match #5
place #1: Superman
place #2: Power Girl
I wanted to vote for Power Girl, saying she flashes Superman, he pops the ultimate Man of Steel that never goes away and dies from a heart attack, but it is Superman. Damn he's boring.

Match #6
place #1: Spider-Man
place #2: Flash (Barry Allen)
I'm having a hard time here, if Spidey-sense kicks in fast enough Spiderman jumps out of the way and entraps Flash in webbing, beat down on Flash. But I don't think Spidey-sense is quicker than Flash.

Match #7
place #1: Ms. Marvel
place #2: Green Latern (Hal Jordan)
GL makes a mistake on his first construct, she absorbs it, then he changes and makes a sonic boom cannon or something like that.
Match #8
place #1: Jean Grey
place #2: Thor
Thor has good resistance to telepathy, Mjolnir to the face.

You can't have Galactus, Dark Phoenix, etc. A lot of villains are really just guys who NEED time to prepare or they are overpowered. I mean Lex Luthor? Does he get his armor? Arcade? Does he get a funhouse or is he fighting hand to hand (because that would be a waste of time)? It just makes little sense in the end and there's an even bigger gap in equality and different "forms," than there are in heroes.

I think there are a lot of usable villains, just a lot that aren't usable. Guys like Lex Luthor aren't viable in this type of tournament at one end of the spectrum and guys like Galactus or Thanos aren't viable at the other end of the spectrum. But there are plenty of General Zods, Magnetos, etc.

Marvel Villains like:

Magneto
Ultron
Onslaught
Abomination
Venom
Mystique
Sandman
Absorbing Man
Juggernaut
Dr. Doom
Loki
Emma Frost
Pyro
Zadkiel
Terrax the Tamer
Wendigo
Shiva
Master Pandemonium
Lady Mastermind
N'astirh
Living Monolith

Besides being able to make Superman explode? Destroying the universe? Having limitless speed when not holding back?

Superman couldn't sniff Flash if Flash went full force. Flash could rip a hole through space/time, travel to Krypton, and kill any line in Supes past.

Because he can essentially bend time, Flash has all the time in the world to discover Superman's weakness to kryptonite. If we are talking full potential (and I think we are since Superman would push Flash) it really wouldn't be fair. Flash wins.

Agree and disagree. For some of those guys it's like leaving Superman out. As much as we wanted to do it, it just didn't feel right (and same for Batman, for different reasons, but instead of leaving him out, we really rigged the tournament away from his strengths.).

flash at the level of being able to time travel and travel at unlimited speed is essentially a god tier character who should beat anyone. but we have him in the tournament because he's a staple of people's comic book childhood and the super hero pantheon we're most familiar with.
