Gotta go with Michael Scott. Swanson was one-dimensional, and his lines were so predictable any one of us could have written them for him.

I just started season 2 of The Office UK and it's just horrible.

And you're the reason they altered the Michael Scott character. Americans don't respond well with the David Brent character. Not an indictment on you, just two different cultures.

Scott for me.

As I watched Pam's big strong hand coming toward my face I saw my entire life flash before my eyes. And guess what? I have four kids. And I have a hover car and a hover house. And my wife is a runner and it shows. And Pam and Jim are my best friends and our kids play together. And... I'm happy and I'm rich and I never die. That doesn't sound like much, but it's enough for me.

It's not even close and I really like Ron. He's just a more likable character for this message board so more people will say Ron.

Yep he is what most wish they could act like irl. Truth is, you can't act like that and have people love you like in Parks and Rec.

With The Office, characters treated Michael Scott like actual people would in real life. Pity and annoyance. Ostracized him as much as employees can a boss.

Michael Scott all day.

Ron seemed to be more of a caricature.

Alot of British humor comes from the interactions between the characters and the world they create, where as most main stream American humor is the characters telling jokes to the audience.

The only characters I enjoyed off the piece of shite American office were creed and Dwight. The rest sucked the biggest bag of dicks ever. frick your downvotes and shitty taste.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, Michael annoyed the shite out of me. Part of why I think the Office is overrated as hell. If he drove the humor, which he often did, I didn't laugh. I shook my head and thought, this guy is terrible. That brand of humor never sat with me.

Sarcasm, however, sits perfectly with me, and Swanson drips sarcasm. He calls out bullshite. Scott creates it. As a character separate and apart from the show and without giving any weight to whether the show would/should exist without the character, Swanson beats Scott with a canoe paddle.

Scott was the basically the main character of the Office, so if you're lending weight to that for some reason, it is skewing your vision of the character, imo.

I loved Ron Swanson LINK but IMO Michael Scott will live on forever as the greatest comedy character of the 21st century. From Episode 1 through Season 4 was comedy gold. One liners in every episode that makes you either cringe or laugh out loud. LINK
