Well, I can't think of any trial more deserving of constant, distasteful mockery

No one seems to remember how he completely dissed Carson when he took over. Didn't thank Johnny, never paid even the most modest tribute, didn't even mention the man who gave him, and most other successful standups of that era, their start.

Basically pulled a Joan Rivers on the greatest late Night host in American history.

I've watched Leno religiously since the late 90s. I've always loved his monologues and headlines. Leno was must-see TV when Terry Bradshaw was a guest. I'm gonna miss his show.

I will say though that I'm looking forward to the Fallon/Meyers double header starting in a few weeks.

I can't think of an instance in which an incident involving the savage murder of two individuals should be the subject of constant ridicule and bad jokes. But whatever.

Thoughts on his tenure?

Mostly boring and unfunny to be honest. Never enjoyed him as a stand up and always found his schtick hard to watch once he took over the Tonight Show. It became unwatchable for me right around the OJ trial...

I had a lot of respect for Leno before the whole Conan fiasco, but since then, I could count the number of times I've tuned in to his show on one hand.

He should've respectfully bowed out like he said he would, regardless if he really wanted to or not. He hurt the integrity of the Tonight Show with that move.

I'm very excited for Fallon to take over. I know it will be great with him at the helm.

Still not worthy to handle Johnny Carson's jock strap.

IIRC the jokes were about an apparently guilty person getting away with it due to the farce of a trial. He was not ridiculing the savage murders themselves. But as you say, whatever

Jay is a prick licking, corporate shill, that would do anything and cheat anyone to get what he wants. He won't stay out of the spot light, he's too full of himself, that's what happened the first time he "retired"

This is Leno's final week after 22 years as The Tonight Show host.

Was funny early in career, but do NOT understand his TV popularity. Can't stand a host who always chuckles at his own lines and then repeats it as fading voice reaction.

Nor do I like the entrance where there are plants in the audience set up to shake his hand once is on stage. Contrived self-serving act.

Greatly looking forward to Jimmy Fallon as host. Refreshing comedic talent to replace the egotistical Leno. Exit stage right. Good riddance.

For the record, I am too, it's time for some new blood. But I did like Leno, and I do appreciate others' perspectives, even those I disagree with

I think Leno is painfully unfunny and you can smell the flopsweat from your living room. He's almost a parody of hacky comedians, but you know what? That's what people want. People want comfortable mediocrity.

Oh well. It's not like I watch late night anyway.

Jay doesn't try or give a shite anymore. I can tell that Fallon does care about the quality of his show, and I wish him the best at it. It's not like he could do any worse.
