Not sure where else to put this. I love listening to podcasts on road trips, I'm currently listening to the Fall of Rome by Patrick Wyman. I already listen to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Are there any more any of you listen to? History wise.

not straightforward history, like Carlin's
2 comedians, sitting over the kitchen table....one of the guys has done all his research, the other one is hearing it for the first time, and they crack jokes. It's pretty entertaining, and informative.
and, it very off-the-beaten-path history. Very weird, funny, obscure historical characters, events, situations, etc...They're not all homeruns, there are some duds in there, but so far, it's pretty great.
....it's also a bit "leftish liberal Hollywood" at times, which kinda annoys me, but just barely, not so much I would stop listening.

Revisionist History is decent. Gladwell can kind of be annoying sometimes though.

Revolutions is pretty great. It is much more of a history class take on different revolutions. He doesn't paint the grand picture that carlin does but episodes are short (a shite ton of episodes though) and all the topics are really interesting.

I wish there was more to do with Ancient Rome, Greece. All of that time period. I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Fall of Rome. Would love some more on the rise of Rome as well.

Try the History of Rome out. It doesn't hold a candle to Hardcore History in terms of production, but it is pretty good. Unfortunately, within about 30 episodes you're on to the Grachi. Hannibal is dealt with in three or four episodes. The First Punic War is dealt with in maybe two episodes and the third is practically a footnote. He does go into decent detail about the founding, the legend Romulus and Remus, and the ouster of the kings. But he admittedly doesn't have much material to work with. It's tough to determine what is real and what is legend. The history is just too sparse and unreliable.

I haven't listened to it yet, but the History of Ancient Greece is out there and apparently not bad.

It's archived. You have to buy it but it's cheap. Same with the Punic Wars.

That was the best $50 or so bucks I've spent on entertainment. I was a bit disappointed in the early stand alone episodes, though. The series are all great, but the 1 part episodes just leave too much on the table. He goes on a few tangents, and the episode is over before you know it. You can definitely tell how much better they have gotten over the years. I know the atom bomb podcast came out not that long ago, but I always look forward to the next pod to come out.
