Exactly. He was a normal guy who just wanted a paycheck. Only Egon was serious about the paranormal activity and the actual scientific study and phenomenon. That is why it worked and was a classic and still is a classic. This new movie will shite all over. Would have been better or more believable if they made the characters their children and them trying to impress their fathers or follow in their footsteps.

i don't care about the female cast but the first gag/joke with the puke shows where they're going with this
no me gusta
*ETA: holy shite leslie jones' character is as bad as people worried about

These 4 women are certainly not any of them. Wiig, maybe, with the right people around her. And I still think the movie would have benefited from real diversity, and it could have been more authentic, and not looked so much like a marketing ploy.
wigg and mckinnon are not bad comedy options
jones and mccarthy are shite

I agree. Either or is fine, both...not really great leads. Think about it, McCarthy is the big name. Yeah.

McKinnon is hilarious and so is Wiig. McCarthy is a one trick pony, and Leslie jones just tries to pop your eardrums by being so loud and annoying.

i'm going to guess she plays a loud mouth at chick who curses, makes crude jokes and fat comments all of the time?

FWIW I didn't see a fat joke in the trailer, but they are in a chinese restaurant at some point, so there's still hope.

You've figured out the exact character dynamics from that trailer?

Seems pretty obvious.
Wiig is the smartest but kinda awkward
McKinnon a goofy but talented inventor of some sort
McCarthy is fat
Leslie jones is a loud mouth dyke

The large black woman from SNL made that an impossibility. If she just ruined the trailer, I can't imagine what she'll do to the movie. No thanks.
i agree 100%, however i shite you not there is a 30 year movie critic in Dallas who tweeted the other night during SNL something to the affect of "Leslie Jones is the star of SNL and best part, she needs to be the next big female breakout Hollywood star."
i nearly shite myself when i read that. i wrote him a tweet asking if he was trolling and how there are literally articles online about how she might be the worst SNL character of all time. of course, he called me racist. lol

Compared to the rest the black woman looks like a former NFL LB transgender.

agenda?
I'm simply pointing out that I dont think those scenes come anywhere close to being shot for shot style or are really even all that similar to what has previously been done.
Not really. Winston, Egon, and Ray all went down there looking for some old arse abandoned subway stop b/c Ray saw the slime river there earlier in the flick. It wasn't Winston just wandering around alone.
Again, I just don't see how a movie set in NYC having a scene set in a subway is being lazy and copying the old movies. Subways can be creepy as hell and NYC is well known for having them. I'd guess at least half the movies set in NYC have scenes in the subway. Its a very common setting for movies filmed there.
Slimer is in pretty much every single Ghostbusters property ever made. There is more to it than just the two movies. There are multiple cartoon series, comics, and games. Aside from a few shitty games he is in everything. Other than Casper, he is probably the most well known ghost from modern fiction.
As for the slime, that has also been pretty central to every single Ghostbusters property. From "Egon, your mucus" to "mood slime" in the movies to the Ghostbusters slime you could buy as a toy, the GB franchise has always been linked to slime.
I just don't see why there should be an issue over two things that have been hallmarks of the GB franchise for the entire time it has existed.

And Slimer is the one who slimes people. So having him in this one is another similarity to the original movies. Just because it's a GB movie doesn't mean they have to have him in it or that someone has to get slimed.

The PC police is going to go hard after the people who don't shower the new Ghostbusters with love.
They've already started.
Apparently Ghostbusters is a "difficult topic", and anyone who criticizes the new film is a misogynist that needs help in understanding why it's the greatest thing ever.

at least the ghosts look cool

I didn't like any of that.
