I don't think there's any way the movie will be a massive flop -- the nostalgia factor will help and based on the people involved, I imagine it will be funny enough for the mainstream audiences.

What nostalgia besides the Ghostbusters symbol?

Well it does seem like it could be a damn near shot by shot remake of the original, so there's that....

I never expected this to top or even match the original. I just hoped it would be enjoyable. It was supposed to reboot the franchise which would've included future movies with different teams of Ghostbusters. After watching that GOD AWFUL trailer I'd say that plan is dead on arrival

This movie will do fairly well to great box office.

The majority of the theater going members of this board will see it.

There will be a sequel and an additional movie set in this universe.

Seriously. Unless I missed the Chinese Restaurant scene in the original... the one where Ray has Egon hanging out of a window and then Winston has to slap the ghost out of possessing him.

I feel the same way about Ghostbusters 2016 as I did about Black Steel Magnolias.

I was trying to optimistic with this, but honestly it looks like shite. And the ghost effects.. geez, looks like something off a Disney haunted house ride.

I haven't watched this. So is Gozer going to be a man in this? Ask the girls if they are Bitches? "When someone asks if you're a bitch, you say yes!!!"

Kill me. Please.

When the average female movie goer refuse to see the movie, then pc police can shut up because bad movies are universally hated.

So they are recreating scenes from the original two instead of doing something new? Meh.

And I actually didn't mind the first 1/3 of that trailer or so. And then Leslie Jones showed up and it went to shite.

I'm sure I'll eventually watch this to see just how bad it is, but that trailer didn't really do it any favors to make me want to see it any time soon.

What now?

Winston walked in off the street and then promptly said, "If there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe in anything you want."

Nope...they just needed an extra hand, they did not hire a fourth scientist.

Now, apparently there was discussion to make that the case at some point, but nowhere in the movies is it either said or implied that he was anything other than a regular working guy.

quote:

Conception and creation In the original script for Ghostbusters, Winston Zeddemore was intended to be the smartest and most capable of the Ghostbusters, a former Marine with multiple degrees and a Ph.D., making him more suited for the job than the founding three Ghostbusters. However, in the final screenplay none of these qualifications were mentioned. The changes are discussed in detail in the commentary on the DVD of Ghostbusters, the explanation being Winston allowed the technobabble to be put into layman's terms.[citation needed] However, the novelization of Ghostbusters mentions Zeddemore's service with the Marines prior to joining the Ghostbusters. Further, in Ghostbusters: The Video Game, while the Ghostbusters are on a mission in the New York History Museum, Zeddemore reminisces about the time he spent studying for his doctorate in the museum's Egyptology wing. (In context, it's unclear if Zeddemore studied for the doctorate prior to joining the Ghostbusters, or sometime between the events of the movies and the game's setting in 1991.)
