Chris Hardwick Wiped From Nerdist Website He Founded Amid Allegations By Ex-Girlfriend

quote:

Chris Hardwick, the Nerdist founder and host of NBC’s game show The Wall, AMC’s Talking Dead aftershow and a regular emcee in Hall H at Comic-Con, has been scrubbed from the Nerdist website he founded after being accused of sexual abuse and “long-term abuse” by his former girlfriend Chloe Dykstra.

Dykstra, in an essay she said was part closure and part warning, detailed a relationship in which she was restricted from going out at night, having male friends, or speaking in public places, and was the victim of sexual assault. “I was expected to be ready for him when he came home from work,” she writes.

Never liked that guy. Comes across as a smarmy starfricker. I always thought he was just dating John Dykstra’s daughter for the nerd cred.

Dykstra never mentioned Hardwick by name

Well that will make it difficult to make anything stick.

Not really. She detailed after she broke up with the guy he got engaged shortly after which Chris did with Lydia Hurst

She mentions enough events, hospital stays, etc. to make it obvious who she means.

Found her piece on Medium. Best guess as to what's censored here?

Guys clearly an a-hole. Don’t see much evidence of him sexually assaulting her.

I don’t see the problem.

the victim of sexual assault

That’s the problem. But who knows if it’s true.

I mean, he sounds like an a-hole, but do shitty boyfriends now fall under the purview of #metoo? I thought it was generally about sexual harassment.

so if you piss off a girl or cheat on her, she can just say "Ohh he sexually assaulted me" and that guy gets fricked. Whether he did it or not.

It doesn't sound like anything that would get him arrested, but there's enough a-hole behavior for a C list celebrity to lose his jobs.

Him telling a convention hall full of people that she was sleeping around on him was pretty stupid.

Depends if he really made calls to prevent her from getting work or not.

Still seems like that falls under assholish boyfriend or ex behavior. #metoo moving into the relationship sphere is concerning.

Chris has built up more than enough good will to make it through this without losing his shows

I guess I can see it but my issue with #metoo being applied is that there's a lot more complexity and he said/she said going on in romantic relationships than what we've typically seen so far with #metoo. In general, I take anything said by a disgruntled ex with more skepticism than I do with accusations about someone like Harvey Weinstein , who has multiple accusers and a long history.

So where does Trump fit in to that category?

Yeah, I’m sorry but if you are in an actual relationship with the person, the #metoo shite just goes out the door.

The wildest ones are “I consented but I didn’t want to”
