Saw the premier last night and am suprised this thread hasn't been started yet. So I figured I'd get one going.

I'm kind of shocked Quicksilver died, but after seeing that machine the doctor has, I wouldn't be suprised if Marvel somehow brings him back.

Overall a great movie, I'm definitely going to see it again to catch anything I missed.

I thought the movie was average.

Ultron not on screen enough.
Too many characters.
BW / Banner love felt forced.
Hulk / Iron Man fight very cool.

Seemed like Transformers meets Avengers to me.

Well, there is the non spoiler thread that contains a lot of good discussion- LINK

Also, thanks for including the spoiler tag in your subject line. Heck, it might be a good idea to even put "MAJOR SPOILERS" there because that's quite a doozy about Quicksilver.

I don't get why this is said so much. It's an Avengers movie, you know it's going to be a bunch of big characters coming together. That something you have to know before going to the movie.

Was lurking in that thread but I wanted to actually talk about the movie and no just say how I thought it was good. Also saw somebody mention how there wasn't a spoiler thread yet.

As I've said after watching each of the previous Avengers movies, I never felt like they were completely fricked. Wish they would have explained the thing that they fused with Jarvis more to defeat Ultron though. Also, the "comedic effect" they force down your throat is terrible, and it makes me wish there was a darker tone to the movies instead of making it more PG13ish.

Scar Jo is fine as a mother fricker fo real.

I enjoyed it but was only blown away by the Vision. He looked like more of a superhero than the rest of the cast combined. Everyone's in leather and angular armor and there's the Vision... just sleek and badass.

I did enjoy it. I have some thoughts about it. Please read all of them as it's not all as negative as the first paragraph.

Tony Stark's character is getting ruined, IMO. He's basically turned into a whiny baby trying to get out of being a superhero. He talks to Banner for about 60 seconds and they decide to create Ultron. There’s no weighing his options. He wants to bypass all of the paperwork and create this being that could easily destroy all of the Avengers. They have no idea how this AI will react and yet they make the same mistake that has been done in movies a hundred times. All because they want to go to the beach? Really? Man up Stark.

That was the only serious problem I had with it. I didn't like the love story with Banner and Black Widow. I pretty much summed up my problems with the plot.

Things I did like:

I loved the action sequences. They are kind of cartoony at times, but I personally like that for The Avengers because I think that’s the world they established.

I loved the Hawkeye storyline. I thought they brought a real personal feel to him and I thought they really made up for giving him a disappointing role in the first movie

I loved Scarlet Witch. I thought the way they did her powers was really cool. Her best scene was when she made Thor, CA, and Black Widow hallucinate. I thought it was cool to see some character history of Black Widow.

All in all though, I give it a 7/10. I feel like it was an entertaining movie with a lot of stuff to offer fans. I feel like it's a middle of the row MCU movie, but that's not necessarily a bad thing considering some of the movies Marvel has put out.

I thought it was OK.

But where does this leave us going forward? Obviously the Civil War will have to be resolved by Avengers 3 since it looks like Thanos will eventually be moving that slow ship to Earth.

Looks like the New Avengers are Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Vision, War Machine, and the Falcon.

Hawkeye, Banner, Thor, and Stark are out.

I'm not sure whether Black Widow stayed or not...

Yeah it seems like they could of explained the Jarvis and Vision connection better. Like is Jarvis now Vision or does Stark just not use Jarvis anymore after Vision is created? He seemed to just disappear.

It seemed that Black Widow stayed at the end. Also, I don't think Thor, Iron Man, Banner, and Hawkeyea are out completely. But that they are not going to be doing the everyday stuff. They'll be appearing to help in major conflicts (I.e. Loki, Ultron, Thanos, etc.)

Jarvis has evolved into Vision. Vision has some remnants of Jarvis, but Jarvis as a whole doesnt exist anymore. Vision is something different

That explains why Stark uses those disk labeled after days of the week for the voice in his suit

Yes. Part of Thor's visions that didn't make it to the final cut.

I think so. I watched the Cam version and saw it in theaters last night and don't remember seeing it at all.

I enjoyed Hawkeye the most probably. The fight scene in Korea where Hawkeye was in the Quinjet spotting the truck and directing people was a nice touch

they had obviously discussed the idea at length before the movie off-screen. but now the staff plus the research from hydra, opened a door for creating an AI

His vision is what motivated him. Better explained in the convo with Fury.

Advancing technology to a point where it can protect the world better than he can, I think is very much in line with his character.

You could argue that the reason Ultron was able to create itself in the movie even though Stark and Banner had failed, is bc of the program wrapped around the soul gem. From the ending credits scene, you get the sense that this was Thanos' backup plan for eliminating humans if Loki failed and the staff was captured.

That's not good enough, IMO.

That's not the Stark that I remember. His motivations are ridiculous.

Again, we saw no "advancing". And his creation was a fail on an EPIC level. We got no chance to even understand why. He was created, he destroyed. A very careless creation by Tony.

These are all great assumptions, but that's all they are. None of this was in the movie. I'm judging what was presented to me.

Speaking of Thanos, does it seem like he's going to be involved in other movies now before the next avengers? Is he going to be the main bad guy or is he still going to be playing the puppet master.

Program in Loki's staff - Yes
STark and Banner fail, program takes initiative to create itself- yes
Thanos saying "I'll do it myself" right after the events in the movie - yes
