We're neighbors. Please don't drive like an a-hole.

The new Alamo on S. Lamar is nice and so is Highball, although I miss the original.

Violet Crown theatre downtown is cool too.

Not even iPic? If you haven't been yet you have to go, that place is amazing!

Where in AZ is it being built btw?

ETA: Nvm...just saw where....freaking Chandler of all places. Guess it could be worse...they could have built it somewhere on the west side.

I drive with an actual destination in mind. I think this puts me in the top 20% of drivers. I drive with purpose.

Welcome to Austin, dude! One of the best things about Alamo in Austin is that you'll get to see Master Pancake shows there. It's one of my favorite Austin things to do!

It's basically 3 comedians talking over a classic (or new sometimes) movie, sort of like Mystery Science Theater. They usually do shows at the Ritz location downtown on 6th. This weekend is Braveheart, which should be good. Most of these shows sell out, so I'd recommend getting tickets at the latest by Wednesday if you plan on going to a Friday or Saturday show.

Cool, thanks for the tip. That sounds like it could be pretty fun.

I've been looking forward to this for two years. Baton Rouge stubbornly refuses to have anything worth a damn about it.

THAT wasnt Baton Rouges fault..... that was frickface Spinosa's fault.

This place is just awesome. It blows every tavern theater I've been to out of the water.

You can't say all of this and not get flagged by the government nowadays.

Congrats on the new computer probe.

His original plans for Rouzan involved a school, library, park, shops, Alamo Drafthouse, etc. What did he give BR? A clusterfrick neighborhood full of overpriced homes built on tiny lots. I wish somebody else would look into bringing Alamo Drafthouse to BR. I think it would go over really well.

Just went to Alamo for the very first time. I give it two thumbs up.

Opening weekend for finding Dory, no lines, reserved seats, only 1.50 more than the matinee at the cinemark.

And my 7 year old and I got chocolate chip cookie milkshakes served to us during the movie.

Will definitely do it again.

I've lived in austin for 5 years and Alamo Drafthouse is one of the most overrated things (aside from Franklin). They preach about preventing distractions and then throughout the whole movie waiters are running around taking orders and delivering food blocking your view. It's impossible to get immersed in a movie. I've settled on going to the AMC at Barton Creek mall the past few years just because it's the closest theater that isn't an alamo.

Saw the new Star Wars last. The pre movie stuff was awesome. The amount of research they put into the clips was awesome. From old TV ads to TV specials that were out after Star Wars mania in the 70's to PSAs from the young actors in the day. Or clips of each actor before they were famous.

They do this with all movies.

I'll support a Cinemark, but I'll never go to AMC again unless I have no other choice.

This AMC hadn't been remodeled, updated or anything and it's probably 20 years old or more. I have a similar criticism of many cinemark theaters

It was just gross, but conjuring wasn't playing at my favorite Alamo and it wasn't at the cinemark. Didn't matter, movie was excellent

Btw, if you haven't seen the first or second, you're missing out. Potentially the best horror series ever

Well, it's not that they haven't changed, it's just AMC may be the biggest whore in the film business. If Coke wants to do 10 minutes worth of commercials before the movie, they won't give a frick so long as they get paid. I shite you not, there were once at least 15 minutes worth of AMC commercials before I saw Star Trek Into Darkness. The whole crowd was booing the screen. I'm already here and stop trying to get me to go out to the lobby to get another drink. They even once went so low as to allow people to text and talk in their theaters. That's how big of whores they've become.

Compare this to Alamo. They get a celebrity who is often in the movie to tell the audience to shut the frick up, instruct new comers how the event works, and then tells you of special events Alamo is doing soon. That's all fine with me, since it's telling me something worthwhile, and not just having a bouncing red ball remind me to get a coke in the lobby or to give me a safety video.
