This place is just awesome. It blows every tavern theater I've been to out of the water. I honestly don't think I would ever go to another theater if I can help it. It clearly respects filmmaking and movie buffs. It doesn't whore itself out. Full reclined seats, the place is simply awesome. Anyone who has access to one needs to take it, and the NOLA/Baton Rouge crowd really needs to petition for one in their area.

LINK to what CBandits82 is referring to.

I've been looking forward to this for two years. Baton Rouge stubbornly refuses to have anything worth a damn about it.

You should've gone to the original....you may not have haf the same sentiments

It was cool but a complete shithole. Ever since they divorced and then took it mainstream, its substantially better. I got to the point to where it was either Alamo, or I just wouldnt go to see the film.

I'm moving to Austin next week so I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I didn't really like Canal Place in New Orleans. There was a lot of racket and distraction due to the service.

Maybe this place knows how to do it better

The one in Dallas is awesome. Food is better than movie studio grill.

But when you want to see that badass movie on the big screen with great sound, look cinema is better

I enjoyed the one in Houston when I was a refugee from Katrina. Thing was almost empty every time I went so not sure how or if they stayed open.

the cool thing about Alamo is all the random one-off shite they do:

-one of the first and only to host Spike & Mike's Twisted Animation, the birthplace of No Neck, Joe, Dirty Birdy, Beavis and Butthead, and many more

-Movie events where you go out to the lake, watch Jaws, floating in a tube, drinking beer

-Tons of fun classic movies where they encourage the audience to quote-along like Princess Bride, Lebowski, Pee Wees Big Adventure, Pulp Fiction etc, etc

just a bunch of fun, interactive stuff that 99% of the theaters dont do or encourage. Yet, they balance it out with a ZERO tolerance policy in regards to talking or cell phones. It's a good business model for sure.

thought the same thing when I moved to Denver. Didn't think I would ever go anywhere else. Then my wife and I found Landmark in Greenwood Village. Same atmosphere except for $12 a ticket you get all you can eat self serve drinks and popcorn. At no point do you even have to deal with an employee. Food is free and tickets are purchased on a touch screen kiosk.

The catch is that they don't play all mainstream movies and only have about 6 theaters. Keeps kids away and the place nice. But it's legit

Can only wish they'd build one somewhere nearby.

I, too, appreciate the quirky events they add.

This. I saw The Force Awakens in their Evolution theater and it was amazing. They're building another Look at the Cityline development at Bush & 75.

By St. Eds.

I've only spent 1.5 days in Austin and now it's my new home come Thursday for the foreseeable future.

No idea what Lakeline is but I'll google it!

Ah.. if you are by St Eds Alamo lakeline will be "far" to the northwest of you.

You'll be close to the Alamo@slaughter as well as the Ritz downtown!

Welcome to Austin

Alamo @ S Lamar would be closest to him, Slaughter and Mopac next closest.
