I love Michael Caine but he's been in some terrible movies as his career declined.

Clooney doesnt belong on this list imo.

Some of these credits are a stretch too.

Samuel L Jackson / Coming to America for example.

Id go with Deniro, Hanks I suppose but I like most of Denzel's stuff, Cruise and Costner's as well.

Some great movies listed here. The role makes the actor sometimes imo and I can see several of these guys changing places in these movies and doing a good job!

Damn great list. Seems like every great movie I watch has a Robert Duvall appearance, though he is rarely the lead actor.

The issue with Daniel Day-Lewis is that he doesn't have a long list of films to choose from. He only appears every 3-5 years.

For best quality movies, I gotta go with Jimmy Stewart. His resume is awesome b/c his movies can be comedies, westerns, dramas, or thrillers. Just so much variety.

Honorable mention to Brad Pitt, and you forgot to list Legends of the Fall and Interview with the Vampire in his (or maybe you just didn't think they make the cut, but I think those are both good flicks).

Harrison Ford has the most rewatchable movies though: three Star Wars flicks, three Indy flicks (f*ck the Crystal Skull), Blade Runner, Fugitive, the Tom Clancy movies. Damn.

Tom Hanks isn't imo isn't even in the same league as all these other actors. Denzel, Pitt, and Leo, are many levels above him.

I'm not sure if I'd say "final answer"... but, Michael Caine should be on the list of consideration.

Still not as impressive as De Niro, Duval, or Eastwood.

I think I would go with Eastwood -- of the list considered, I think he has the broadest range of movies, Western, Comedy, Suspense/thriller, Action, Drama. To me, his resume is the most impressive.
