re: I believe football is dying. - GumBro Jackson
I think the OP has several good points and that the NFL (and college football) need to be address some of these concerns. 1. Falling attendance: this is a real concern. Not only do ticket prices keep increasing, but in a world that is constantly becoming more fast paced it is sometimes difficu...

re: Texans-Raiders to play in Mexico City next season - GumBro Jackson
It would not surprise me at all if the NFL puts a team in Mexico in the next 15 years. Either Mexico City or possibly Monterrey which is closer and wealthier per capita....

re: Article on Super Bowl Host Cities - GumBro Jackson
I have been to bowl games in NOLA, Glendale (AZ), Pasadena, Tampa, and Atlanta. New Orleans definitely has the best set-up. It is fantastic being able to get to NOLA, ditch your car, then walk between your hotel, the game, and the bars and restaurants of the FQ. The city can handle the influx of ...

re: Is Cam Newton the most prominent college/professional player in Auburn history? - GumBro Jackson
Right now it is still Bo, and by a fairly large margin. Cam is big, but Bo was one of the two most popular prominent athletes in the world for several years (along with Michael Jordan). Bo had a huge Nike campaign, was a star in video games, and had a Saturday morning cartoon show along with MJ ...

re: 2016 NSD Thread: START FAPPING BROWN HAS SIGNED!!!! MELT: ON [OFF] - GumBro Jackson
Great end to the day. That puts us solidly in the top 10, right? I hope all these guys have a great experience at Auburn and are able to help us out on the field as well. It has to be a very exciting day for all of them....

re: 2016 NSD Thread: START FAPPING BROWN HAS SIGNED!!!! MELT: ON [OFF] - GumBro Jackson
I don't follow recruiting closely, but of course now that it is NSD I want to know what is going on. Thanks to everyone for contributing to this thread. Sounds like Sammons was a nice get. Keeping my fingers crossed for the others on the list and hopefully a good surprise or two....

re: How do Auburn fans feel about Bruce Pearl? - GumBro Jackson
I'm glad he is at Auburn and I hope we can keep him a while. We have been pretty bad for over a decade. Lebo was below average and Barbee was a disaster. I had hoped we would be a little better this year, but I didn't realize what a hole we were starting in. I'm optimistic about the future and I...

re: SEC school you attended vs. SEC school you root for - GumBro Jackson
If it had been UAB instead of UF, would you still think it was weird?
Yeah, I would, b/c UAB still has athletics and I think the students there have school spirit. But I can see a bit of a distinction there b/c I don't think athletics are as much part of the culture at UAB as they...

re: SEC school you attended vs. SEC school you root for - GumBro Jackson
Good questions, but I'm not sure that I could give a good answer to the last one. It's just that from my earliest memory, I was a Bama fan. When I was a kid, dad would pop a huge bowl of popcorn and we'd get our Coca-colas and watch the Bear Bryant show on Sunday...which was a little strange ...

re: SEC school you attended vs. SEC school you root for - GumBro Jackson
Was born in Alabama, grew up a Bama fan. The family moved to Atlanta when I was eight, was still a Bama fan. The family moved to Florida when I was in my teens, still a Bama fan. Was accepted at UF and went to school at UF, was still a Bama fan. My oldest son also graduated from UF, I'm still...

re: SEC school you attended vs. SEC school you root for - GumBro Jackson
I think it is pretty weird when people continue to root for a team they liked as a kid after they go to school somewhere else unless there are some unusual circumstances. Of course they are free to do so, but IMO it implies that they didn't do something right in college or that the university the...

re: Rank "all star" games of the 4 majors - GumBro Jackson
1. MLB. I like seeing the big stars all on one team and the features of whatever stadium they are playing in. B/c of the individual nature of baseball the fact that they are not regular teammates is not a big detriment. Home run derby is fun. I'm mixed on the whole "winner gets home field advan...

re: Happy X-Files Returns Day - GumBro Jackson
Tyler Labine came back to The X-Files after 20 years and reprised his role of "Stoner" from season 3's "War of the Coprophages" and "Quagmire" He was the guy huffing spray paint
I believe both the guy and the girl were in those old episodes. I recognized them immediately....

re: Can anyone name one reason OM is good for the SEC? - GumBro Jackson
Ole Miss is a charter member of the SEC and has a lot of history with all of the other charter members. Grove is fun, if overrated. Their whole "we might not win every game, but we never lose a party" shtick is different than any other SEC school. They probably have the most school spirit...

re: Happy X-Files Returns Day - GumBro Jackson
Just watched episode 3 (the were-monster) and thought it was a ton of fun. Back in the day the comedy episodes were some of my favorites and this one was hit a lot of the right notes. Maybe slightly too self-referential but a very enjoyable hour of television....

re: SB50: Who are you pulling for and why? - GumBro Jackson
I am pulling for an entertaining game and will be pretty happy with either result. Of the two teams I'm rooting for Carolina slightly more b/c of the Cam-Auburn connection, b/c I like Southern teams to win, and b/c it would be pretty fun to see lots of people lose their sh*t. I would be fine w...

re: Who will be the next person on US currency? - GumBro Jackson
I think it will be one of the following: Harriet Tubman Susan B Anthony Eleanor Roosevelt Rosa Parks Also, count me among those who think it should be on the $20, not the $10. If the new person is on the $10 he/she should be on there in addition to Hamilton, not in place of....
