The MI movies don't stick with me at all. I never care about the characters even a little. But the movies are entertaining, especially the last one....

re: Poll: Do you support the Olympics? would you support if your state made a bid? - GumBro Jackson
I enjoy watching the Olympics and I attended several events when they were in Atlanta. I love the idea of the Olympics and think they are on the whole a good thing. In theory they could be good for a city, but I think it is really difficult to pull it off efficiently, and the difficulty is incre...

re: SEC cultural differences - GumBro Jackson
I think that map is pretty accurate. Of course there are going to be issues w/ anything that general about a nation of over 300 million people. He mentions that the Tidewater is declining b/c of the increasing influence of DC and Norfolk, but I can't tell how he categorizes those two places. ...

re: Spin-off of my own thread: Who is your favorite Director? - GumBro Jackson
My favorites are the Coen Brothers and Christopher Nolan. I enjoy pretty much all of their movies, and their best are some of my absolute favorites. David Fincher, Steven Speilberg, Kathryn Bigelow, Martin Scorcese, Francis Ford Coppola, Federico Fellini, and Clint Eastwood also have each done m...

re: Sequels that are better than the original - GumBro Jackson
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: Far better than the first The Dark Knight: First one was good, sequel was fantastic Empire Strikes Back: although A New Hope is also awesome Spider-Man 2: more entertaining than the original with a better villain X-2: Far better than the original which IMO is...

re: Ant-Man Tomatometer Watch (79%) /Film Review Thread - GumBro Jackson
I'm a bit late on this, but I just saw the movie over the weekend. Overall I liked it. I'd probably put it in the top half of Marvel movies, but not in the top three or four. It was light-hearted and fun. I liked that it felt pretty different from the other movies w/ more comedy and the wh...

re: Are Toronto sports fans the most tortured sports fans right now? - GumBro Jackson
IMO Cleveland is #1 with no championships since 1964 and several losses in finals and world series. They also lost their NHL team. I'd probably say Atlanta #2. That 1995 World Series is the ONLY championship a team from Atlanta has ever won. Plus they have lost two NHL franchises. And San...

re: Commissioner Rob Manfred sees expansion in MLB's future - GumBro Jackson
I've always wondered if pro sports were just starting now, what would the distribution of teams look like.
I've wondered about that also. I think a lot of the midwest and rust belt cities would have fewer teams (St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh) and there might be more in the sout...

re: Dedicated passenger train from Baton Rouge to New Orleans "3-5 years away" - GumBro Jackson
I'm not sure if there would be enough traffic to justify the expense in this case, but I bet most people who sh*t on the idea of trans in general don't have much experience with trains. They are a really nice way to travel in the right circumstances. IMO those circumstances include a travel dist...

re: Sports Organizations that need to rebrand - GumBro Jackson
For the Saints I like their current look except for the black pants and black jersey combo. It used to really irritate me when they had all those mismatched "golds". Same for the Cowboys. You can be the most valuable team in the NFL, but when your clothes don't match you still look dumb....

re: Airline poors will have to contend with a new seating arrangement - GumBro Jackson
Flying is just such an unpleasant experience. Check-in, security lines, rude workers, sh*tty seats and sh*ttier food. If you can fly direct it is alright, but anything with connections is just a huge pain in the ass. If you are in the northeast the train is the way to go. Anywhere between ...

re: Sports Organizations that need to rebrand - GumBro Jackson
Tennessee Titans: the name is middle of the road (not great, but at least it is somewhat unusual), but that logo is just awful. Looks like a flaming thumbtack going downward. Utah Jazz: is an awful name, but they have been there so long that I doubt it will change. Atlanta Falcons: I like t...

re: Time to go to another level - GumBro Jackson
I'm very happy with my University. It was a great place to go to college, and it is still a great place to visit. It is enjoyable that we have a good football team, and winning the national championship in 2010 was great and IMO really took the pressure off. At the end of the day it shouldn't r...

re: Anyone else going to the Atlanta United launch party tomorrow? - GumBro Jackson
That logo looks pretty good. It is simple and classic looking, and I like that the color palette is a little different than existing teams. Still don't care for the name, they really mishandled that IMO....

re: How do you comprehend/rationalize the death of a child? - GumBro Jackson
This is an imperfect world that has a lot of beauty, joy, and love, but it also has a lot of suffering, pain, and hate. When you bring a child into the world, you are rolling the dice as to what that child will experience. Everyone will experience some of the good and some of the bad, you just d...
