Philadelphia - Allen Iverson vs Rocky vs Bobby Clarke maybe

One of these is not like the other.

Plus, Dr J over Iverson

Houston has had some great players, and Hakeem is the greatest player to play for a Houston team but I feel like Biggio and Bagwell are more "revered".

I think it's still the dream. The u of h connection puts it over the top.

I don't know. I think Theismann is close to Riggins

There's only one DC sports figure who is widely revered by DC sports fans and he wasn't an athlete.

Eh. Even people in my generation, which is THE generation of Kobe, understand that magic is the man in LA

Dream

Biggio

Andre Johnson

Bagwell

The only current players that could touch the dream are watt or altuve if they are lifers and a win championship.

Earl and Nolan would be above Biggio.

I am 27 so forgive me forgot about them two.

Losing the oilers kinda screws over all the oilers greats. Honoring our divison rivals former greats, being cucked by Tennessee in a way.

Biggio was a lifer and was on the Astros best teams ever, got to give him the nod over Ryan.

Babe being that old proves he is the answer to me. Like I said, he is still unbelievably well known. Every little kid has called their shot. They all the Bambino. He has proven the test of time

Agreed, especially since he played in an era before TV. His exploits on and off the field have almost become mythical. And his name still litters the top of several major statistical categories over 80 years later.

Not to hijack but I thought I read this opposite and it presented a good question, are there any athletes thought of as the face of a city/most beloved in multiple cities?

Drew Brees is the most beloved sports figure from Lake Charles to Pensacola.

Larry Bird - Basically all of New England

It's Gordie Howe or Al Kaline or if you go to All-time then it's Howe, Ty Cobb, or Joe Louis.

Bird could have won 11 championships.
Brady could win 4 more.

And the correct answer would STILL be Ted Williams.

A lot of people in DC hate Theismann. It's easily Riggins which is, frankly, insane. He was only on one of those Super Bowl teams, and he wasn't as good as Art Monk or Darrell Green. But whatever.

Baltimore used to be Brooks, but he's slowly dropped from the public view and now it's Cal. But we all agree that Jim Palmer is a jerk.

I live in Dallas now, and it's far and away Roger. I think as time goes on, it might be Dirk, but Roger is special. But Irvin is another big player for the top slot.

I can't speak for Minnesota, but I think Puckett is a smaller scale version of OJ. He WAS beloved and probably would be the #1 guy, but the details that came out about his private life turned a lot of people against him. And rightfully so.

I also can't believe anyone doubted it was Gordie Howe for Detroit.
