I'm not a JC guy so I may be missing some but I believe there is a lineman I am missing.

Joe Mcknight
Jonathan wells
danny wimprine
mike stonebreaker
reggie dupard
garret wallow
malachi dupre
duke riley
kenny young
dillon gordon
tony bua
clarence leblanc
chris howard
jenco nelson

if eca can count mcknight JC should count Ryan P too

Yeah, obviously I was joking about McKnight, but I'd take Hester coming to LSU and having the career he did over off brand Reggie Bush all day. Absolute tragedy, what happened to him.

Phillip Deas. Set the national HS season record for yards (broken 2 years later by 5 people, including Berlin). Hopped around UNC, Texas, and maybe Tech.

Ferriday's Max Fugler & Donnie Daye and Clayton's Al Dampier, were all starters on LSU's 58 Natty team.

In 1953 Louisiana only had three classifications: B 1A & 2A. In 1954 the state added a fourth classification, so they had 3A, 2A, 1A & B. Ferriday moved up that year, so the 1st of those four was in Class B, but the last three were after they moved up to 1A .

They had multiple All-State guy every year in that stretch:

B 1953: B End Young, Lee Ferriday
B 1953 Back Harmon, Bobby Ferriday

A 1954 Tackle Joplin, James Ferriday
A 1954 Guard Brocato, Frank Ferriday
A 1954 Center Fugler, Max Ferriday
A 1954 Back Hill, Guy Ferriday

A 1955 End Brocato, Tony Ferriday
A 1955 Guard Nelson, Manson Ferriday
A 1955 Center Fugler, Max Ferriday
A 1955 Back Hill, Guy Ferriday

A 1956 End Brocato, Tony Ferriday
A 1956 Guard Brocato, Frank Ferriday
A 1956 Back Daye, Donnie Ferriday

This was back when they picked 22 players for All-State: 11 defenders and 11 offensive guy. They had added honorable mention in the 70's, but still just one team. Same for All-District too.

14-0 Productions

Anyone else ever eaten at Brocato's restaurant that used to be across from Ferriday High? It was a very cool place to eat when I was in elementary school in the 1960's. Ate my 1st fried oyster there.

I noticed both Haynesville and Homer started being really good after O & G was discovered up there. Pretty sure the same thing happened with Byrd.

quote:

1921 — The prolific Haynesville Gas Field was discovered.
Timeline of Louisiana’s Oil and Natural Gas Industry (on growlouisianacoalition.com)

17 Haynesville 1924, 1929, 1936, 1970, 1971, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2009, 2013, 2014

4 Homer 1928, 1937, 1939, 2021

7 Byrd 1926, 1930, 1931, 1934, 1935, 1937, 1949

14-0 Productions

How many oil field workers with football playing sons were hired in all three towns?

How has Haynesville kept it going?

The way Haynesville is trending with enrollment, I think they’ve won their last championship

Negative. In modern times 1980 till today it is John Curtis, Yeah I know rampant cheating but they still won.

Seemed like there were 5 guys a year there that were going to a UT, USC, Florida, Miami, the top at that time.

This is a separate discussion.

1970s Chalmette Owls.

Nobody talks about the 2 linemen.

Caravallo(sp)? Mark Jones...

Both early 1970s....

1973 was the best Owl team until 1978.

What about Elpage(sp)Callioutte(sp)??

Led the Catholic League in rushing for most if not the entire regular season.

All District.

He was 1 of the top offensive players in Metro NO his senior year!

Didn't he have about 5 or 6 D-1 offers ?

I thought he originally committed to Tulane?

(1970s Tulane had 85%-90% homegrown talent.. The entire I-10 corridor was represented)

Every small college in the South wanted him too!!

I know you have hobnob ed with old coaches, refs even a few sportswriters since you were young!!

Yet I KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE FOR MY ERA!

There was too much bias and favoritism with the voters!!

How else do you explain 6 Istrouma players on the AAAA All State team after the 1976 football season??

Did the other 3 semifinal teams have 6 total players represented ??

Too many final 4 teams have had players left off the sportswriters ballots especially in my era..

The 1975 AAAA CHAMPS had 1 OL and 1 DL ??
After a historical and unprecedented season at the highest level in the highest classification?

JUST LOOKED ON 14-0 PRODUCTIONS.

CONFIRMED THAT ISTROUMA B.R. 1976 HAD 6 PLAYERS & CAPT SHREVE 1973 HAD 5 PLAYERS !!

As far as " The Twins" @ Carver; they played all over the field on 2 very talented and explosive teams in '78 & '79..

Each 1 won an All State spot in consecutive years.

They had numbers but Malcolm did it all and was dominate blocking and catching.

Those '75,'78 and '79 Carver Ram teams were special..

1975 Carver unfortunately had a bi-district playoff game against St.Aug..

Carver/St Aug & West Jeff/Bonnabel.

The FIRST HS PLAYOFF GAMES IN THE DOME..

The following week St.Aug/West Jeff in The Dome..

Carver 1975 could have made the AAAA State Championship Game had they been in the opposite bracket from St.Aug!

They were that good on both sides of the ball.

Sidenote: Ive known The Twins since we were all in grade school. 1 has a daughter playing college basketball. She won a state championship in recent years as a member of the Warren Easton HS girls team.

Hollis Brent(Carver HS/Grambling)was the QB...He was nice.elusive,quick feet with a great arm..

Hollis Price(Basketball Star @St.Aug/OU Sooners)is his son....

Hollis Prices' mother was a very good track and field all through childhood and also @ Carver HS..

Man if I could go watch one game from before I was born, it would be that Chalmette St Aug game with 14,000 in an 8,000 capacity stadium… if we did gain that last yard and win it

Might have changed history lol… maybe it would be Bill Chimento Stadium

Can someone do the legwork and figure out which school has produced the most professional championships in the big 3? I can think of one that has produced a 3x Superbowl champ and a 2x world series champ who is also in the MLB HOF.

Best one I can think of is Woodlawn-Shreveport.

Terry Bradshaw - 4x Super Bowl champion
Robert Parish - 4x NBA champion

Yeah winning 5 straight state championships and 7 out of 8 years is pretty solid.

Parkview baseball state champs:
