Can you be more specific? Like 4A and 5A classes only?

No one really cares about Anacoco beating LA school for deaf 29 years in a row

I mean it does matter. I remember when Zwolle came to Peabody in 07. That game was a Hall of Fame game and didn't count towards records. Both state champions a month later. Zwolle finished undefeated but they left Alexandria that night a loser, 87-41.

I mean, they did just win the State Championship this past season. In the highest classification.

About time lol. Admittedly, I somehow missed that. I don't follow as closely with kids of my own getting older and playing sports. And to be fair, Evangel and Calvary Baptist are essentially a split squad since drama forced Johnny Booty to go start Calvary. Evangel certainly hasn't been nearly the same since. But 93-02 was as good as it gets. Even beat Curtis in the dome a few times with the split squad.he

Since they’re Curtis, they have to win three times in a row for it to be acknowledged

One of my favorite Tigers. Doesn't speak well of the Aug family to allow him to be Homeless. Same with Jackie Wallace.

Bobby Mayfield and Vince Manalla were really good players in the late 70's. Before them, Ole Miss' Norris Weese.

Scott is no longer homeless, but his purple knight brothers did help him out several times and he ended up back out there. also wayne smith from carver made all state TE and he was pretty freaking good too - caught way more passes - the other end spot went to a guy from shreveport - hard for two guys from the same city to make all state - lots more sports writers voting back then diluted votes.

1972 team likely a state champ too if not for forfiets.

1975 team was the GOAT La HS team in my opine. Sulphur and WJ games were unreal

Catholic and Rummel have been better than Curtis since being in the same classification

Let than sink in. Curtis would have no dominance if they played where they should have

Too long ago for most of you and not from this area. But the Jesuit(Shreveport) Blue Flyers were dominant in their day. Their legendary coach, C.O. Brocato, chain smoked on the sideline. Crazy. They were feared and were offensive juggernauts

My uncle , Danny yerby played for them. He was really small but really good. I think he had a td receiving, rushing, special teams , and an interception in the state championship. Think that was the 60s though

Without question.

An hour long documentary should be made on this program. Ive lived in Houston for over 11 years and nothing I repeat nothing, is even on the same level as Bucs baseball.

Abram Booty was a beast before back injury and a fan favorite.

Keyunta Dawson played in the NFL a while and played in a super bowl

Trent Taylor who is still in NFL and plays for the Bengals

Brock Berlin was exceptional in 2004 and second team all ACC. Also started in NFL.

JD Booty was Heisman favorite going into 2007 before he broke his hand against Stanford.

Blake Shapen is currently starting QB for Baylor.

Now do your Curtis list lol
And Joe McKnight played for Evangel too.

1972 was a deeper and more talented team than 1975!!!

4200+ yards of offense in 10 games..

Defense WAS BETTER than 1975 only allowing 6ppg...

QB Roy Henry was Metro NO Offensive POY.

Fall 1973 QB Roy "BLACK MAGIC" Henry led the ND frosh team to an unbeaten season with 5 future NFL players (including the first Browner family member).

Was awarded a National Championship Ring although he hadn't played a varsity game yet.

Roy surpassed QB Tom Clements in camp and was higher in the depth chart going into the Fall..

Angelo Zanders led Metro NO in kicking points..

4 QBs deep including the 1973 & 1974 PK starter.

2 future NFL defenders & 2 future CFL players started on the 1972 team..

It's strange that Holy Cross had exactly the same transfer eligibility issue a few years prior yet continued into the playoffs with the player in question sidelined???

In Game #10 held defending State Champion BM Crusaders to under 100 yards total offense in a shutout victory!!

Bobby Conlin declared St.Aug the unbeaten District Champs and the unbeaten undisputed #1 team in 1972 AAAA from week 1- week 10.

Even the sportswriters named Coach Wash the COY!!

The 1975 Defense would have had to work overtime to slow the 1970..1971..and especially the 1972 PK offensive teams down; let alone dominating them the way they did every other team!!

Per Coach Otis Washington, 1972 was his deepest, most talented and BEST Team...

Cappy this is JS619....

We've discussed this before lol

Crazy thing is they(Scotlandville) lost to St.Aug and Brother Martin(?) before they started the winning streak...

They had to get even in football and basketball with St.Aug from the 1960s...

Peabody stopped St.Aug football from a 3peat right before Aug left the LIALO to integrate the LHSAA in the 1960s..

Peabody played a great game yet Aug almost won on a kickoff return at the whistle!!

Coach Eddie Flint is alive and kicking in New Orleans.

Nach Central coached a great game with a great gameplan when they beat Scotlandville for the 5A title.

Additionally the players resisted the urge to shoot shots outside of the paint.

They showed total discipline, stuck to the script and beat their opponent into submission.

No fast break opportunities...No turnovers...Fed the ball to the tallest player and dominated the boards....The kid shot his highest fg% of the season and probably his lifetime best ft%....

Both of them had similar issues.

Good dudes too!!

They have always had support..

Jackie Wallace was a QB @ Aug for 1960s Head Coach Eddie Flint...

1 of 4 PKs coached by Coach Flint to get drafted and suit up for @ least 1 full NFL season..

Glenn Alexander(Aug/Grambling/NFL)

Sam Holden(XU Prep/Aug/Grambling/NFL)

Jackie Wallace(Aug/Ariz/NFL)
NCAA All American..2 Super Bowl Games(L.A.Rams...Minnesota Vikings)

Alfred Jenkins(Aug/SIU/Tulsa NFL)(( Backup OL 1972 Champion Miami Dolphins..Helped carry Don Shula off the field)

Jackie Wallace

1 of the first PKs to sign with a PAC 6/PAC 8 school..

A few years later QB Keith Pete would follow to the PAC..

Prior to that a few PKs had signed with San Diego St..

I heard stories when I was a kid. My grandfather played varsity football for Peabody from 59-61, Nose Guard. I have a number of family members who played football, basketball, baseball, ran track or were in the band at Peabody from the mid-50s in the LIALO, during the switch to the LHSAA, right up to the present.
