Neville has 5 guys in the NFL right now. There are only 4 other schools in the country that have more.

Coach Wash retired with a winning record against EVERY SINGLE La high school save 1!!!

0-1 1976 playoff loss @ Istrouma in the bid to repeat as AAAA State Champs...

No other La.public school had a winning record against 1970s St.Aug..

Although Rummel HS beat Aug in 1974(knocking them out the playoff chase)1978 and 1979;Not a single Catholic League team had a winning record against St.Aug during the 1970s...

The only NOPS team to beat Coach Wash was the 1973 John McDonogh Trojan team in a playoff upset..The Trojans were led by "Caveman" and OL Terrance "Red" Butler and a few very good players....

Not many people realize Curtis had a good baseball run that started in 1990. Played in championship games in 90, 91, 92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 2000.

Curtis would be the equivalent of Auburn choosing to play in the Sun Belt. It means nothing

Evangel had like 3 very close years of having the #1 overall recruit with Booty, Berlin, and someone else I can't remember (maybe other Booty, not LSU one). Their off year between Berlin and Booty, was a QB that was still #80 recruit in country, went to OU I think. Brock Berlin is still rated as the #8 recruit on 247 in the history of all hundreds of thousands of recruits they've ranked over the years. Evangel had constant 4 or so guys in top 150 recruits each year. John Curtis hasn't ever had that or close. Maybe 1 guy in the top 150 every 3 or so years, but 3 to 4 guys a year? McKnight is ranked 12th of all time.
List the Evangel Players that had College careers equaling these Curtis players:
Mike Stonebreaker- Notre Dame
Chris Howard- Michigan
Jonathon Wells- Ohio State
Kenny Young- UCLA
Joe McKnight- USC
Reggie Dupard-SMU
Clarence LeBlanc-LSU
Melvin Hayes- Miss St
Dillon Gordon- LSU
Malachi Dupre- LSU
Tony Bua- Arkansas

And this is just a sampling

I thought they beat New Iberia for the title in '79?

Anyway, would have paid some filthy money to hypothetically had watched '75 St Aug vs '73 Captain Shreve.

That is a super odd video. Not sure whether it’s due to trauma or something else, but that dude has a bizarre way of communicating.

Correct I updated it.

St.Aug was Top 10 in 1973 led by Future USL QB/DB Gerald Joseph, 5 year letterman RB Gregory Washington(SMU)All World ,3 year Letterman & Metro POy DL Terry Sherman(OU/Tulane), Ronald Irving,Robert Griffith and and the usual fast, sure tackling defense!!

They would have met Capt.Shreve in the semifinals...

They lost in the 1st round..

A huge upset..

Can someone do the legwork and figure out which school has produced the most professional championships in the big 3? I can think of one that has produced a 3x Superbowl champ and a 2x world series champ who is also in the MLB HOF.

As a Peabody grad, I wouldn't put us in that spot. I think we have been the most consistent basketball program in Louisiana the last 30 or so years. I think semifinals at minimum probably 17-20 times since 1990, 8 titles in that span, but we have never won a back to back. We went to back to back title games in 90-91 and 3 straight in 10-12 but have never won back to back.

My answer to this for basketball is Scotlandville. What they did the last 15 years, I think it was 9 or 10 titles in 5A, (not the best basketball class each of those years but some). The only school in that stretch that even challeged them was Natchitoches Central on their run 10 years ago but even then Scotlandville was penciled in at least the final to start those seasons. They've been in the 5A final I think 10 years in a row, at least.

yea if we are talking all sports, the run Barbe has had the last 30 years in 5a baseball is pretty hard to beat.

12 state championships in last 25 years

over a 1000 wins in 39 years for cecchini at barbe

3 national championships in last 25 years and finished top 10 bunch of times. last won 2021 and finished #2 behind stoneman douglas this year.

125+ signed to play

over 30 kids drafted

2 first rounders

30+ wins every year since 2000

longest win streak, most hrs in a season, most consecutive playoff seasons, consecutive years in state championship, most district championships (in hardest district in the state)

winning percentage of over 850 for last 30 years, highest winning percentage in the 5a playoffs.

Can you be more specific? Like 4A and 5A classes only?

No one really cares about Anacoco beating LA school for deaf 29 years in a row
