I see them on all the other teams

We got an O-lineman at ULL though projected to start… maybe with a big year he can go in the portal. Might have a couple dudes in the Southland…

And couldn’t beat WM in the Dome consistently.

West Monroe never beat Evangel in the dome. Evangel dominated West Monroe during that run

That would be De La Salle in Concorde, California. Btw, they wiped the field with Evangel back in Evangel's heyday

That game would have been very different had JD Booty not left early for USC. That’s a fact

Too long ago for most of you and not from this area. But the Jesuit(Shreveport) Blue Flyers were dominant in their day. Their legendary coach, C.O. Brocato, chain smoked on the sideline. Crazy. They were feared and were offensive juggernauts.

The period in question was 1995-2007.

From 97-2010 Parkview had 3 football, 2 basketball, and 8 baseball state championships.

I stand corrected. You are correct. I seem to have gotten my titles from the late 90s for WM and the early 2000s for Evangel mixed up.

I still stand by Barbe being the most dominant due to the length of time they’ve been doing it on the baseball field. You can look at titles and players put out and you’re going to see a pretty impressive resume. Curtis’ titles for football may never be touched.

Is it worth mentioning that all those titles were during the period where they were a private school actively recruiting playing across the realm of public schools that could not recruit?

Where would you draw the line looking at public schools winning titles during those days and placing a bit more emphasis on the fact they’re playing with whoever walks in the door?

Ruston and Haynesville had some teams back in the day. WM obviously falls in there too. I think Neville and Karr also need to fall in the list of public schools. What about Woodlawn back when Bradshaw and Parrish were there?

To me, Curtis is more impressive because they don’t have future elite college players every year but still win at a high rate in one of the most competitive states for high school football.
To me, Curtis isn’t that impressive. Since moving up to D1 (just the best privates, public’s not included)their reign completely ended. Abruptly.

If they played in the top classification from the beginning they would have been nothing special at all. A few state titles and nothing more

You probably want football, but its girls basketball.
Baskin high:
218 straight wins from 1948-;1953

313-2 from 1945- 1955

9 state championships in that period, including 8 in a row.

The first video I saw was tbem losing to a team from Arkansas 35-7 in 2005.

I remember watching that game on ESPN. That Arkansas school was Springdale High, Mitch Mustane was the qb and their head coach was Gus Malzahn.

Agree completely. Fight me. I don’t care. They recruit kids, tell everyone they don’t, then played down classification and ran roughshod for years. The cult of Curtis is real.

Yeah that’s pretty special I think they’d have at least 8 that West Monroe has. 5A hasn’t always had the most impressive champs

They would have somewhere around 4-5 state titles, maybe, but likely less. That isn’t that special at all

So when they were in 1A from 93 to 94 (maybe 95) they had no choice but to stay in 1A? And when they were in 3A from 96-98 again they were limited to 3A? Was there a rule in the 90s that stopped teams from playing up?

I’m pretty sure there was that rule. You could only jump 2 classes max each time they reclassified. That’s why they went from 1A to 3A to 5A. They knew playing in as high a class as they could would attract better players. I mean, I went to West Monroe and they dominated us, so there’s no love lost there. But I always respected that from them, especially when compared to Curtis’s chicken shite asses.

1983(maybe before) through 2004 schools could play as high up as they wanted to, 2013 first year of split schools could play up only one class(weak attempt to undo the split 4a and 5a didn't want 2 schools neither did 2A so they dumped them on 3a).
