Not a pro bowler

Not an MVP

Not a Super Bowl Champion

31st in the league for completion percentage
20th in the league for passing yards
17th most passing TDs
Tied for 11th most sacked QB
10th best QB rating
32nd in yards per game

Sounds like top 5 to me

Niners should make him run 60% of the time next year, then they can just tag him as a RB

The strength of the niners is their front seven and the run game. While improvements can be made to the offense, they're never going to be some offensive powerhouse with Kaep at QB.

Doesn't mean he's worth 20 mil, or even 18 mil for that matter.

What has Cutler or Romo ever done to make them worth it?

they are QBs. They get paid

Especially if their ground game is legit.

I think this the year where Frank Gore starts to show his age.

but they do have LaMichael James and Anthony Dixon. A few backs who seem like they would compliment each other.

and for all we know, Marcus Lattimore could contribute.

Nothing.

I wouldn't make mistakes on contracts just because other teams have. The way they're built, they could be successful with another QB. In fact, I'd look for his replacement this year.

what qb's besides brees, rogers, manning, brady are worth north of 20 mil? Qb's are the most overpaid players right now, but it is what the market is demanding

In today's game, yes it does.

No it doesn't. They won games even when he was playing crappy because of the strength of the defense and the run game.

20th in pass attempts. Convenient you left that out.

higher than

Matt Ryan $20mil
Jay Cutler $18mil
Tom Brady formerly $18 mil before restructure
Stafford $16mil
Flacco $20mil
Eli Manning $16mil

Also Newton and Luck. Future big money QBs

When average QBs think they are great - Flacco, Romo, Cutler - and get big contracts you realize they aren't any good bc they don't have money to spend on other players

Brees, Brady, Rodgers, and Manning's teams are usually at least playoff contenders even when they get big contracts bc they can truly carry their teams and make others better

Guys like Kaepernick have to realize that even though they have a good record or go to the playoffs it's not always bc they lead them there...put Luck, Rivers, Rothlesberger, Romo, Newton, Matt Ryan, Stafford, even Dalton and I guarantee the 49ers are a better team

well they get reward for doing great things. Sometimes catching lightening in a bottle. It's so hard to find good QBs in the NFL.

Teams pay for security. Sometimes it doesnt work out.

Kaep has taken them to two NFCCG and 1 SB. To San Francisco, that is security. They must lock it up.

By making a case for his top 10 QB rating (his only category in the top 10) I hope you're not trying to support him to get top 5 money

That's all I'm saying...he is an idiot for wanting top 5 money

maybe I went overboard but It's just to point out that I find it comical when a guy wants big money for being a relatively above average (10-15) QB

He's not the idiot. The owners willing to handcuff their franchise by paying these contracts are the idiots.

he might not have the stats you'd want but it isn't like he doesn't have any leverage.

the market for QB's is going up and he's looking to cash in.

can't blame him.

Do the Niners let him walk and draft Garoppolo (sp?) in the 2nd round?
