what does this have to do with Kaep's contract?

I dont think the guy deserves 20 million, but some others who were not deserving of 20 million and they got it so the precedent has been set. which sucks

49ers will not pay Kap 20 million a year. They realize he isn't anything special just like they realized Alex Smith wasn't. All they need is an average QB who can run every now and then.

I don't think he's a better QB than any of them. I think he has serious mental limitations, and I wouldn't want to give a top contract to a player that runs as much as he does.

It's not "love." He's a good QB. Kaep is like Newton: limited QB that makes things happen with his legs. It's not that it can't be effective, but I wouldn't invest a ton of money in that type of player because 1) they can be neutralized easier by disciplined defenses and 2) the risk of injury is higher.

He kept their offense churning last year despite having no weapons on the outside outside of vernon davis. You can see when Crabtree came back, they really kicked it up a notch.

his last 13 games they went 11-2, he scored 22 TDs, only had 4 INTS. His QB rating was 98

When they add some WR weapons, the are going to be scary

One thing to take into consideration is how much the salary cap shot up this year and some people expect it to make a similar jump next year.

All of a sudden, 20 million per year (especially if creatively structured) is not too much of a cap albatross.

Doesn't mean he's worth 20 mil, or even 18 mil for that matter.

Of course they will. The 49ers aren't going to let their franchise QB walk over a couple million

so just any average QB will keep the 49ers in Super Bowl contention.

I agree. Especially if their ground game is legit.

But this 20 million/yr for one player has got to stop.
