Man college basketball could be so different next year.

Miami might be pretty good.

Man, I'm way off on Booker. I don't think he's a Top 15 guy right now.

I think he needs to come back and work more on his game off the dribble.

I think it's going to be a fascinating year, especially if UK loses 7 guys. There are only 8 players left to make a decision, and I genuniely don't believe UK will get more than 2 of them.

Rabb is going to Cal or Zona. Ingram is going to Kansas, Duke, or UNC. Diallo to ISU or KU. Swanigan to Cal, Duke, or Mich State. UK isn't even on their radars. Jaylen Brown seems to be in tight with Adidas and will be at UCLA. UK certainly has a shot at Malik Newman, along with Thon Maker and maybe Zimmerman, but that's a weak UK team, relative to usual Cal squads.

Louisville will be bad. Duke is likely to have one of their three worst teams in two decades, Wisconsin will lose a lot, as will Mich State. The freshmen are flat out bad across the board with a handful of expections.

I think UVA and MD are the two best squads next year. Wichita State might actually be top 5. UNC is top 8-10 just based on the general level of attrition in CBB, while they keep basically everyone. I think Miami might be as well.

It will be a strange year.

I've been really unimpressed with him. He has been outplayed by Winslow, Looney, and Stanley Johnson for sure. His projection is still top 15, so he should go. Take the cash before people figure out he isn't worth it.

Self has had a bad run with the one and done types for a while, outside of Wiggins and Embiid. Henry, Selby, Oubre, Alexander. None of them really brought much to the table. He does a lot better with the under the radar guys like the twins and Robinson.

He clearly did fine with oubre. You might not like him, but everyone else does. Excellent defender, great length, can shoot, he is gonna be good. He had a good year, and is going in the lottery. Mission accomplished for him.

Xavier was the second leading scorer and fit in perfectly with an absolutely unbelievable team in 2010. He left Kansas as the best freshman scorer in the schools history. Then he got drafted 12th overall. What a train wreck.

Selby flat out sucks. I really have nothing to say there. And Alexander certainly needs a few years, but it looks like he might not be able to get them. That's 4/6 and the 2 guys who self "did badly with" faced eligibility and off court issues. Not a coincidence.

I don't care for Oubre, but he's a project that could be a contributor down the road.

FWIW this is why somebody like Dakari Johnson or Marcus Lee should come out at well.

Dakari will be worth it. He just has work to do. His stock would definitely improve with another year.

Everyone knows Shaq made more in college than he did in the NBA. They should keep earning their college salaries until they are seniors or actually read to play in the NBA.

Louisville will suck next year, so I can see him leaving when he is late first/early 2nd projection.

Suck is a little harsh dont you think? We will be a top 25 team and will make the tournament. We have some terrific young talent coming back, a top 10 class and a Hall of Fame coach. I have learned to never count out Pitino

It's become more common for teams to fully guarantee the first year or two of 2nd round pick contracts.

Most of the guys picked from 31-45 last year got at least $1.4M guaranteed over two seasons. For some of these guys who need the money that's a hell of a pay day to pass up to play for free for another year and risk injury or otherwise tanking their stock.

Billy has gotten away from what made him the coach he is. That's the dilemma major college coaches face though. Do you pass on a blue chipper and try to find a 3 star who will stay for 3 years or roll the dice with a 1 year guy. Regardless, the way he is doing it hasn't been working in Lawrence. Getting manhandled by a experience filled WSU team was just the proof in the pudding.

Also hearing from people I know that Ron Baker is leaving. That was pre Marshall staying, but he is a moron if he goes. Wichita State will have a legit squad if he stays and the addition of Frankcamp will be huge for backcourt depth.

Despite the changes in modern college basketball, you still Need experience (especially at the guard position) to win in the NCAA Tournament. The only outliers I can think of are 2012 Kentucky and 2003 Syracuse

You are way overreacting to two tournament losses in seasons where they won the conference and got 2 seeds. What bill self is doing hasn't been working? Are you high?

Also, we still have the multiple year guys. Mason, selden, and Ellis will all start as upperclassmen next year. Not sure what Braggs role will be as the class isn't finished but I'd guess we get one or two more guys and are a top 2 seed again next year. It doesn't appear to be a national title caliber team, but it could be depending on who comes to Lawrence and how the bigs develop.

It's not working in the tournament, which is really all that matters in CBB to everyone but KU. The team that made a deep run, 2012 while I was a student, was an extremely talented and experienced group. Same with The 08 championship squad. Kind of goes with my point doesn't it? IMO, the Big XII regular season championship has become almost a burden for the Hawks. It really is their national championship. The fans treat it as such, the players do, and the students do also. And I believe it's one of the most underrated streaks in sports, but everybody forgets about it after the first week of March.

Also, The Big XII SOS argument is becoming much like the SEC football argument. Is it the best conference, probably, but does it really matter if you can't do anything in the postseason. If the best conference in the country can only produce an OU Sweet 16 bid...then ouch.

I kind of laughed at your 2nd paragraph. Frank Mason (poor mans tyshawn Taylor), Wayne Selden (trash), and Perry Ellis (soft as a pillow) can't hold the jocks of guys like T Rob, Sherron Collins, Chalmers, Brandon Rush, etc. It's actually kind of sad that is the expected leadership compared to what it's been previously. Self will continue to be a tremendous in game coach with quality players, but I don't see KU making in a tourney anytime soon if the trend continues.

I don't get it. A lot of these guys are basically declaring for the D League, and they'll make less than Accounting and Finance majors with 3.5 gpas if they don't go abroad.
What makes you think these guys are accounting majors?
