Seriously though, when I read that article I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I miss Bobby.

I posed that question to the coaching staff,” he said. “ I said, has anybody looked at the stat pack” [The lenghthy statistical report that’s distributed to coaches daily] “No? OK, then who’s got the better on-base percentage of those three?”

He said the response from coaches was, “Oh, Schafer does, hands-down.”

He said he responded, “Oh, really?” Then told the coaches that Schafer’s was actually the lowest.

Wow.

As much as I dislike Schafer's offensive abilities, one thing is for certain and that is that the team just flat out wins when he is in the lineup hitting at the top.

31-14 to be exact.

I heard that too.

I'm really perplexed.

Let's face it, his numbers are abjectly terrible. But there seems to be some sort of impact going on with him. Coaches and Chipper are raving on him. Even though the guy can hardly get on base.

I ran some stats for fun:

Braves Pre-Schafer playing everyday:
26-24, 3.88 runs per game

Braves Post-Schafer playing everyday:
31-15, 4.34 runs per game

Not sure what that means. Probably just random variance, but still seems odd. It could also more directly coincide to Freeman finding his bat.

lol, some people have extremely short memories

If Bobby were in the dugout, Kimbrel would be middle relief and Kawakami would be the day 1 starter and the Braves would be hoovering around .500

You can't deny that we win when Schaf is in the lineup, even though our offensive numbers are terrible. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Even though J hey has really been worrying me lately. hopefully it's just a sophomore slump, a slight knock to his confidence that will return eventually.

After reading that blog, I conclude that Fredi truthfully may be as dumb as we all speculate he is.

I really don't like him as our manager. He's always makeing some dipshit comment like, "is there a stat for that, I don't know."

We're almost 100 games in and Fredi is relying more on what his coaches think the numbers are than what they actually are.

Fredi is a baseball guy that believes what he sees, and he is seeing W's, so he won't change too much until we hit a rough stretch. It's just hard for baseball people to accept the numbers, and the truth that we are bad offensively, even with Danny Uggla on a good steak

Maybe I shouldnt, but I tend to agree with this line of thinking.
