Wow there is a rumor saying Derek Lowe + Schafer + Eric O'Flaherty for Granderson per two different sources

There is no way NYY would do this. The Grandy Man is in the MVP race right now. I mean, I would love for the Braves to land him but this isnt happening.

if they are serious about sending JHey down.

The smarter thing to do would be firing Larry Parrish, but I hope they know that if they send him down there's a very good chance it could frick his career up. A lot of guys who look promising get sent back to the minors if they start to struggle and are never right again.

I'm really torn on what to do with the kid.

Something is not clicking. I don't know if it's just a slump... or if it's his mindset/attitude, but getting called out by Chipper and needing a day off every 3 days is not very encouraging.

It seems he's not there mentally... hell he's 21. THe focus isn't there or something. So maybe a trip to the minors would be a wake up call. He's a humble kid from all reports, so I imagine he'd respond well... maybe could do for him what it did for Travis Snider in Toronto.

But it is risky.

Sending him down would be a huge mistake.

Sit down, have a talk with him, and let him ride it out. He'll get it together. Just needs that one thing to click for him.

He's still a viable starter with an OPS north of .700 and BABIP at .250

He'll turn things around.

I think he is suffering from the same thing Uggla was earlier in the season. At first it was just a slump, but it turned into trying to win the game in the 2nd inning with every swing. Failure is the demise of confidence, and once you lose your confidence you are going to start taking more and more defensive swings and those almost always result in Ks or weak groundouts. It's a confidence issue, so the only way sending him back to AAA for a couple of weeks is going to help him is if he tears it up. If he struggles, that could be the end of him.

I've heard that the Cubs may be looking to trade Marlon Byrd. They have their future @ CF ready to be called up and it probably wouldn't take much to get him.

I would take him if it's cheap although I'd still prefer someone with a little speed

He's going to hit, get on base at the top of the lineup, and play decent defense.

Most importantly, he's right handed

Byrd would be great for this team. Great guy, too. Bows to the crowd in CF when he takes the field.

But it's not happening. Fredi loves him some Schafer:

Apparently Fredi doesn't even know what anyone's OBP is, so I don't think we will be replacing Schafer unfortunately. No I'm not joking.
