I don't think he dislikes Holiday, just saying he'd rather have Teague/Jennings, Noel/McLemore/McCollum, and a 2014 first as opposed to just Holiday.

There's 2 problems here.

1) Those 3 items add up to more salary/cap room than just Holiday.

2) Holiday is still the best player out of all those options. Never trade the dollar for the .50cent piece and 2 quarters in the NBA.

Yeah, I edited to include the cap space for Tyreke, which I think would be the part that Lowe really disliked as opposed to Holiday. I think the second part of your post is an overused cliche, especially when it just worked out for your team.

Teague and Jennings are NEVER going to lead their teams to a title, I would bet any amount of money on that. Holiday on the other hand, looks fully capable of being the primary ballhandler of a very good-great team down the line.

Dell Demps has managed to turn an old, gutted, roster after Chris Paul left, into a core of Jrue Holiday(23), Eric Gordon(24), Tyreke Evans(23), Anthony Davis(20), Ryan Anderson(25) and Austin Rivers(20). That was all done in 2 seasons, with Jason Smith being the only guy left over from 2011.

I'm fine with people questioning how they will fit together, but that core is extremely impressive. Thats far more talent than the franchise has ever had since coming to New Orleans.

And with the exception of Rivers, those are all young guys who we already know can play and can grow together given none have reached their primes. There's no HOPING Noel is ok, or pining your hopes on some mid-late lottery pick next year.

I'm sorry, but Dwight has never been the best offensive big man in the NBA ever during his playing career.

It's not about who you'd choose between those three, that's an easy answer. It's what each of the three would cost.

It's been said before, but draft picks are way overvalued by NBA fans. Outside of the top three or five picks in a draft, rarely does a pick become a legit star. Stocking up on draft picks is for losers because teams aren't going to duplicate what SA and OKC have done. If you have a chance to get a proven, young commodity, you take it.

Exactly.

The Pelicans basically paid money to avoid the risk and guess-work of the draft process.

They drafted Davis and traded for Gordon, Anderson, Evans and Holiday. If they'd managed to draft those guys in some combination, Demps would be looked at as some draft genius. What doesn't it matter if they didn't actually draft them? They're there. And if they did actually work out as draft picks, you'd have to pay them eventually. Ask OKC.

Plus if this whole thing goes to shite, guys get injured, whatever, they still keep their pick if its top 5.

Stocking up on young talent? isn't that exactly what the Rockets did for about 3 seasons after Yao?

such a stupid comment. like teams dont get better in the offseason... there might not have been any games played yet, but its pretty clear their total from last year will be on the rise.
