He's a little better than solid. He's one of the best scorers this league has ever seen. His defense doesn't suck, he is a decent rebounder, and he has developed into more of a playmaker with the ball in his hands as the years have gone on. And he hasn't even entered his prime yet.

Also have to keep in mind that he puts up those insane offensive numbers while sharing the court with Westbrook, who is unreal in his own right and shoots a lot more than Durant.

Pip was a great player and a great team mate. He was matched with an all time player in Jordan and complimented him almost perfectly. He had an ability to will his team defensively, sometimes even upping Jordan's game with his play. It was great to watch when they both were clicking. His defense on Magic in the Finals was the turning point after LA went up 1 - 0. No one could guard the guy, until they switched Pippen on him. After that, it was all over. He smothered magic and Jordan the proceeded to take over offensively. This formula worked in so many playoff series for the Bulls during their run.

However, he would sometimes disappear or simply not play well at all. He'll go through what seemed like mental issues with poor attention and bad headaches. His infamous migraines during the playoffs and his spat with Jackson/kukoc when Toni got the last shot showed moments when he wasn't at his best.

However, he would definitely be someone that you could build a championship team around. When he's on he can be deadly. That playoff game against LA when he was at Portland showed he can be a first option. The year Jordan played baseball he was definitely having an mvp like season. He could really do it all and lead in I think all categories for the team that year.

Let me put it this way. If I could put a team together of the best nba players I'd definitely consider Pippen ahead of Garnett, Wade, and even Durant. Not saying Pippen is a better player, but I would love having a player as versatile and useful as pippen on the team.

That's the best argument anyone has had for Pippen in this thread by a mile.

Kevin Garnett
Kevin Durant
Scotty Pippen
Dwayne Wade

One and two are nearly interchangeable for me, but I sided with Kevin Garnett due to his defense, intensity and ability to stretch the court as a big man.

Kevin Durant is an elite scorer, IMO.

Kevin Durant was 1st player to win 4 scoring titles in a 5-year period since Michael Jordan won 7 straight ('87-'93).

"solid" scorer

Garnett

Wade/Durant

Pippen

If I am building a team around someone, I am picking Garnett all day. His tenacity, fire, anger, dedication - all of it - is what you want to build a championship team around. He had no help in Minnesota. It is a shame that his best years were wasted there.

Bird was a KD/Pippen hybrid. Just droppin' knowledge.

Pippen - Wasn't the term "point forward" coined from his game? He was a fantastic defender. He did it all, a la Lebron (not as powerful, but a better defender). I believe he would have been a much bigger star had he not played with Jordan.
Garnett - Longevity, consistency, tenacity.
Durant - Potential to be among the greatest, and should be an easy number one, but to me, he doesn't have the fire.
Wade - Was incredible, but didn't didn't have longevity, because his game has been so predicated on his athleticism.

Durant, seven years in, is squarely in his prime.

He's one of the best shooters/scorers this league has even seen, but his playmaking is lackluster. He's not a point forward by any stretch.

Durant also needs to play bigger.

For all you geniuses who rank Pippen last, try to remind yourself that if he'd been the #1 option on his team like the other 3 were for vast majorities of their careers, all his offensive stats would likely be much higher than they are.
It goes Durant, Pippen, Garnett, d-Wade.
Consider this before you roast tho, basketball is played at both ends of the court and Pippen regularly guarded 1-4, generally the oppositions best player and is an all-time elite defender.
Seriously tho, you couldn't go wrong with any of them with Durant being the only guy without multiple rings.

Cool, he still can't shoot. DeAndre Jordan has a fg% of 70+, but he can't shoot either.

It's unfair to put pippen in this conversation because he was the second option during his prime unlike the other guys. D wade is the only guy on this list that won a ring as the #1 guy(Paul pierce was by far the best player on the celtics championship team).

The list is also unfairly skewed towards Garnett and durant because guys with their skill AND height are increasingly harder to come by so that automatically raises their value.

NBA now or when pippen played.

I love Wade and Durant but defense now a days is a joke and the refs blow them whistles.

NBA now

Wade
Durant
Garnett
Pippen

NBA in 80s-90s

Wade
Pippen
Garnett
Durant
