I honestly don't know why this doesn't happen more often

I don't mind if they do this for a bowl game that doesn't really matter. I think it would very smart to shut it down after the regular season if your team isn't in the playoffs.

Dallas still drafted him

Sure, but he lost millions and will likely never be as great as he could have been.

If I was Fournette I would be pursuing the same thing.

I've started seeing this in High school football too. A kid gets his offer and when they get "hurt" with 3-4 games left they cash it in and use the injury as an excuse

Maybe this will make his stock plummet, and he falls all the way to Dallas

He's been in the concussion protocol for like a month. Don't know his concussion history, but coming back & suffering another one will surely hurt his draft stock. This isn't a perfectly healthy guy quitting on his team.

If I was a NFL team I would question this guys character. Right or wrong it bothers me that he left his team to get ready for the NFL. He quit on his college team and easily could on his NFL team.

I don't like it either but I doubt NFL execs are going to knock him for it. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Unless he has previous history of quitting or being a bad teammate, I doubt they'll care too much.

Can't blame the guy at all. I wouldn't want to risk my professional career by getting hurt in a game where I'm not even getting paid. If he believes he is good enough to get drafted despite whatever negative PR crops up for this then more power to him.

If it is concussion related then why say anything. Why not continue working out and not play due to concussion.
.
Obviously he is about to fail out of school and wants to quit rather than go to class

He doesn't want to play and he's doing what's best for him and his family. Had he not gotten injured before the Clemson game last year he'd have gone pro. Best of luck to him.

So he's selfish?

Sounds like the NFL is perfect for him. He'll fit right in.

He certainly won't ever be in New England

Is this what kids are these days?

NFL GMs gonna avoid this idiot...except the Browns. They'll draft him 1st round.

And there have been many more players who stayed and lost millions as well. It's all about risk analysis You will see more of this, regardless of how you feel about it.
