i could see some agents getting together and getting best trainers and coaches involved, and getting more to leave.

I have a bit of a different take than most on this.
The guy wants to be a professional NFL player. He probably never wanted to go to college but this is pretty much the only way to get there. And I said "professional NFL player" accidentally at first, it seems reduntant, but there actually is an amateur NFL, it's the NCAA.
I mean I can't expect him to value something that he only did because he had to do it to get where he wanted to go. It was likely always "just business" for him.
