He made a career getting a strike with a pitch 2 feet off the plate. To tell the truth, so did Maddux.

so did Maddux.
Maddux was a surgeon and psychologist all in one. He could command all his pitches AND knew exactly how to get you out.

Maddux faced 20,421 batters during his career and only 310 saw a 3-0 count. 177 of those were intentional walks.

I'm not questioning Maddux as a HOFer. But Both Maddux and Glavine, as well as the entire Atl pitching staff, benefited from hitting the catchers mit a foot off the plate and getting the call. Maddux and Glavine could do it without the catcher having to move.

I really wish Smoltz would have retired with them so they could go in as a trio

biggio might not make it, but thomas, glavine, and maddux being elected will help with the back log with randy johnson, smoltz, pedro, et al being added next year.

16 or 17 legitimate candidates tho and people were voting for jack morris

That really is mind blowing. When you take out the intentional walks, that is 0.65% of the hitters he faced in his career.
