re: Mariota: "eating it up pretty quickly"

After watching Mariota in his 2 playoff games, I came away unimpressed. I was a little concerned with how simple Oregon's was and that almost all of the big plays were due to a break in the defense.
With that said he seems very sharp and a hard worker. I think he has shown that he can be accurate and he will just take some time to acclimate to passing out of the pocket primarily. His mobility is a big plus, and I think he learn how to not get hit similar to Russel Wilson. I think he'll beat out Mett based on his tools and his rookie year may have a sharp learning curve. I think by the end of year one and into year two he will start to make larger jumps. I'm excited about he will be bringing to the franchise for hopefully many years.

Wait, why would LSU fans be "still butthurt"? Coulda sworn we whooped Oregon's arse. If it's in reference to Zach, most of us aren't worried about Marcus beating him out.
Mariota is the starter. Barring injury he will start day one, regardless of performance all the way up to preseason game 4. This is not opinion. This is fact.

Tennessee solidified itself as the most incompetent NFL franchise by not trading down and then drafting a sure fire bust....Marriota is a system QB that racked up stats against shitty defenses. It blows me away how inept these scouts are!!
I'll admit I think he has bust potential. But I'll at least wait to see for myself. Glad you have the credentials to relegate a player as a sure fire bust before he plays a snap though. Maybe an NFL team should hire you. QB guru here
Hope you have the balls to come eat your share of crow if/when MM ends up being legit.

I think Mariota will be fine and because he is the 1st round draft pick,he will beat Mett for the job unless he is truly horrible, which I don't think he is. This is a rigged game. But Mariota will be fine and will likely be the starter.
Though I think the Titans will regret not drafting Amari for two reasons: ONE. He was the best player in the draft. TWO. The Titans glamour position depth is friggin' horrible. They would've been better off taking Amari, starting Mett, finishing 4-12, and getting a top QB next year. Or, if you luck out, maybe Mett was the answer.

This competition may be as fun to watch on this site as the Wilson/Flynn one was. There were some amazing theories and fits of idiocy thrown out then, especially after the KC game.

You basically hit the nail on the head for me in relation to what direction I was hoping the Titans would go. I am cautiously optimistic about MM right now. I don't know if it is just hoping for the best now that they actually drafted him or all of the quotes about him coming out.
I just hope this whole situation resolves itself rather quickly because I would like being able to discuss the Titan's QB situation and not feel like I am having to message board fight every LSU fan on the MSB about it.

Wilson was 3rd rounder. Mariota was #2. Not even same arguement. You don't bench the guy you pick 2nd. Ever.

Jake Locker 2.0
All Pac - 12 fans knew Locker had little between the ears. This is about the worst comparison you can make as far as comparisons go. Yes, they are both athletic but Mariota is closer to Luck and Wilson between the ears and Locker was closer to Leaf.

I'm in the camp of Titans could have improved their team more by trading down instead of drafting another QB when Zach played well as a rookie and their new coach previous system seems to fit Zach.
If Mariota is the next Aaron Rodgers then I'll be surprised.

The big offers were not there until way too late in the process. Had to go with MM

He'll get killed if he starts day one. This is not an opinion. This is fact.
And lol at the gump who's terrified that an ex-Tiger will be the face of his team for the next decade+. Deal with it.

well yeah, so would Mett

Mett gonna have to transfer again

This board has such an anti-Mariota bias that I will be riding his success hard here. Down vote me all day long.

Locker
Maybe. And short of Mett saving them, the whole franchise stays in a flat-spin of coach-killing QBs.
But I never understood what Jake did at UW to earn a top pick in the first place. At least Marcus had a bigtime run.

It's kind of silly how commited you are to promoting Oregon on here. Most people don't really care either way.
Posted on 6/2/15 at 7:59 pm to RTR America
As a person living in Nashville who isn't a Titans fan, the Oregon poster claiming LSU Butthurt is wrong. Most Titans fans here did not like the pick and wanted to build around Mett. It isn't an Lsu thing
