re: Name a better actor than Daniel Day Lewis - Backinthe615
Love me some DDL. But up against guys like Duvall, it's like naming a better qb than Eli Manning....

Colm Feore usually delivers, too. He was great in The Insider and Riddick. ...

Good one. Always dug that he both trolled the network in Man on the Moon and got trolled by the talent Private Parts. Another always likeable guy Will Patton ...

re: Favorite Character Actors: Bald Guys Respect Edition - Backinthe615
So does Arkin, pretty much. They're just always money. Duvall does more leads, but sure. When he's a supporting role he pretty much wins everything....

Yeah  He's been in so many things. **And Ed Harris is borderline leading man, but I couldn't leave him off.
Arkin
True that. Slums is one of my favorite films. More recently, Million Dollar Arm has been on like Starz or whatnot and he has a predictably solid role in it, to...

Favorite Character Actors: Bald Guys Respect Edition - Backinthe615
The collective work of these guys is amazing. Rarely get the glory, but just seem to show up and make every damn movie better. There's more I'm forgetting, but just a little homage to these dudes. *favorite roles (obvious JK aside) probably Harris: Apollo, and Arkin: Little Miss Sunshine ...

re: Will San Diego Chargers deal Philip Rivers? - Backinthe615
If Whizz & Co. don't really believe in Mett (or the draft) & want to save their collective asses, TN is as likely as anywhere - and Rivers has family close. I just have trouble believing SD would deal a top qb with a few good years left....

re: Who is your all time favorite athlete and why? - Backinthe615
I met Owens when I was a little kid, he was an old man and spoke at my school. I'm not 100 yrs old so I didn't watch him at Munich, but he owns maybe sport's most transcendent moment, and that's enough for me....

re: "NFL Films Guru" Greg Cosell says he would take Zach Mettenberger over Winston - Backinthe615
I hope the Titans give Mett a shot and load the hell up on skill players. His arm is great, and if he doesn't cut it they're not in another five years of purgatory. ...

re: Which of these 3 opening Thursda college football games interests you the most? - Backinthe615
I'll watch all of those. UM-Utah is interesting, the Utes have that 6'8 hippy QB and there'll be Harbaugh reaction shots galore from the director. I kind of miss the Big East Thursday games before the league went to hell. The coaches all got to audition for their next gig on national tv....

re: Watched In Bruges last night - Backinthe615
It's a fantastic dark comedy if you view it as one. I didn't think the violence was out of place at all. It's a movie about hitmen. The ending was foreshadowed in the (hilarious) meeting when Fiennes gave in to his dark side and bought the dum-dums instead of standard ammo....

re: Why don't people ever wear gloves for ceremonial first pitches? - Backinthe615
I can't think of one baseball-throwing memory without one. They all get a ton of other swag for the event anyway - MLB should throw a glove in, too. It might've counterbalanced Carl Lewis....
