This has nothing to do with our 2011 game. Also, most Nfl fans are split on him and even more fans don't go outta of their way to disparage him. When Mariota has success, you will have to ask yourself if it's worth watching your offense put up a goose egg to better prepare your players for the league.

So you're not mad about 2011, but you think LSU fans are mad about a former player not getting PT. Nice exceptionalism.

Hey, if the Titans want to throw a rookie to the wolves and ruin his career before it ever gets started, then that's their prerogative.

I was a big fan of Mariota's in college and think he'll do well in the NFL, but man, I just can't get over all the trade rumors and if they really passed on what they did, that was a huge mistake. So while I think Mettenberger is the much better pro prospect, that's not even the main reason I disliked the pick.

I thought we'd lose the 2011 game. We started two walkons on offense.

He was. What does that have to do with anything?

What does LSU whooping Oregon's arse have anything to do with Mariota?

That's basically the same question that I'm asking. Oregon fan thinks LSU fans are butthurt about Mariota, and I'm a little confused as to why he thinks that. My only guess is that he's still feeling the '11 beatdown.

The correct answer, of course, is that we aren't butthurt about Mariota.

and many NFL fans, in general, are down on Mariota
Maybe so, but compared to Mett, I think most would say that the odds are in MM's favor.

I'm not a fan of either team, and it's clear that it's in reference to the MM a and Mett QB battle. That shouldn't be hard to see, so your "only" guess was either dishonest or an ignorant guess.

In reference to? Obviously. A reality? Nope.

It's rhetorical. Paying attention would have helped.

So your absurd "guesses" are rhetorical now? It's a convenient excuse to a dumb statement.

And a statment like "most of us aren't worried about Zach beating him out" shows a disconnect from reality.

Considering that I already addressed that exact sentiment, yes.

I don't think you're butthurt about Mariota. I think you're a little dogmatic in a traditional approach to football. A successful Mariota in the NFL is a threat to that tradition.

Wait, why would LSU fans be "still butthurt"? Coulda sworn we whooped Oregon's arse. If it's in reference to Zach, most of us aren't worried about Marcus beating him out.

The five stages of grief:

(1) Denial
(2) Anger
(3) Bargaining
(4) Depression
(5) Acceptance

You're toting the line between denial and anger.

Not any more of a threat than Russell Wilson and Cam Newton. It would shatter the Oregon QB narrative, which shouldn't apply to him because none of Oregon's previous QB's were in Mariota's class. He's by far the most accurate and talented of any Oregon QB.

Are you speaking about me, specifically? Because I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion. I don't have anything against QBs that can run. Although, they haven't been consistently successful over the course of time. Regardless of the prominence of spread elements creeping into the NFL, success still largely seems to favor the statues with strong arms and big brains (i.e. "pro-style"). In that regard, Mett is a prototype. I have nothing against Mariota, whatsoever. I loved watching him in college, pulled for Oregon in the NCG, and thought he was deserving of his accolades. I just think that Mettenberger is a more viable candidate around which to build a franchise.
