It's kind of silly how commited you are to promoting Oregon on here. Most people don't really care either way.

Oregonians are a different breed. However, this board really does care. It' almost creepy how down on Mariota LSU fans get.

Dude it isn't Lsu fans. A lot of people across the bord don't think he will pan out in the NFL. Time will tell who is right

No they don't. I think most LSU fans would prefer that Mett starts but you are overstating the concept. Fans in general don't have the same love affair with him as you believe probably because he was something of a mercenary and only played 2 years.

Your boy was largely considered a system QB as a prospect across the board, nothing wrong with that.

Rg3 turned heads in practice before his first season.

Let's see Mariota in games, he ain't in the Oregon O anymore

As a person living in Nashville who isn't a Titans fan, the Oregon poster claiming LSU Butthurt is wrong. Most Titans fans here did not like the pick and wanted to build around Mett. It isn't an Lsu thing

As someone who frequents Titan's message boards I am gonna have to disagree.

I think the disdain for Mariota runs deeper than the potential rivalry with Mett, btw. I shouldn't have to spell out the implications that it would have if Mariota excels.

Well, this LSU fan is busy promoting the Alabama player, which hurts my soul. I thought Amari Cooper was the best player in the draft and therefore, teams should have taken him. I mean, it wasn't quite the Jags taking a defensive end who wasn't even 2nd team All-Conference with the 3rd pick, but I just wasn't enamored with Mariota. I don't dislike him, and I don't pretend to be a scout or an expert. I just watch a lot of college football and know Awesome when I see it. Cooper is special.

My opinion really doesn't have anything to do with Mett, who I think is a serviceable NFL QB. It's all about actually taking the best player in the draft, and at a position of deep need for the Titans.

Fans here are split, but coaches are all in on Mariota. Picked him 2nd. He will be game day starter.

You can say that Mariota was the wrong pick because you needed a wide receiver without calling Mariota a bust before he takes a snap.

Where did I call him a bust? I think he'll start.

And it's not so much "they need a WR" it's "Amari Cooper is awesome, and they had a need at that position to boot"

Though I think the Titans will regret not drafting Amari for two reasons: ONE. He was the best player in the draft.

He wasn't even the best receiver in the draft.

That honor goes to Devante Parker. He will be the best receiver from this group.

Think this is a bunch of " coach speak"

The people you are quoting are the same people that turned down trading that 2nd pick for two 1st rounders, a 3rd rounder, Cox, Boykin, and Bradford. Not sure I'd put much stock into what they say.

I followed the Titans for the past few years as a 2nd favorite team. That is one inept organization. I like Mariota and think he could do pretty well, but not with the Titans. They have so many issues with their roster and just keep drafting and signing random players hoping that something sticks. I'm convinced that they either have no strategy/direction for their organization or are extremely poor in executing their plan.

No shite man! Agree 1000%

Reading the Tennessean you would think that Mariota is the next Manning, Wilson, or Luck but lets be honest how many QBs from a system like Oregon's have been successful in year 1? Mariota will obviously be the starter on game 1 but is the OP supposing that he will be the starter every game in December as well?

It's like Miles saying that Jennings/Harris are tearing it up during practice.

It's complete bullshite but gives the fans something to hold on to.

This competition may be as fun to watch on this site as the Wilson/Flynn one was. There were some amazing theories and fits of idiocy thrown out then, especially after the KC game.

The amount of rustled jimmies was awesome

Issue is MM and Mett both are not good. Titans are fricked

That's what it is. He's just not a good fit for them at this phase of their rebuild.

This phenomenon only exists in your head. If it seems that a preponderance of LSU fans are "down on Mariota", it's only because this website is based around LSU, and many NFL fans, in general, are down on Mariota (or at least question his viability in the league). Therefore, a higher percentage of those who are not sold on him would be represented by LSU fans on this website.

I think you're just trying to pretend that LSU fans have something to be butthurt about after we embarrassed Oregon in Jerry World. I mean, what about the Titan receivers who reacted negatively to the pick? Are they butthurt, too?

well yeah, so would Mett
Not really. Mett already has a year in the system. He also played under a former NFL DC in college. Therefore, the contrast in the two offenses wouldn't be nearly as drastic as a guy coming from a simplified, single-read system.

Now, I can't speak for the Titans' OL. If they suck, then yeah, Mett is toast...but name me a QB in the NFL who can flourish with a bad OL. Michael Vick nearly got killed a couple of years ago behind the Eagles' joke of an OL.
