If I was making whatever he's making, I'd workout, eat awesome food, then bang 10s(well 8s in cleveland) in my awesome arse home out of the public eye regularly. Not so sure why it's so hard for him to stay away from a bunch of annoying college kids.

This. Perception is perceived to be reality, even more so as the NFL tries to clean its image.

Then I would buy plenty of things to occupy me and have a fricking blast at home. Then, after a year or two of slowly earning back the trust of the organization and my teammates and constantly expressing how my maturity has blossomed I would take baby steps towards inserting myself back into the public eye with positive situations. Then, after my 5-10 year career was over and I was still less than 32 years old, Id make up for lost time by partying my arse off and living like a rockstar (speaking as a hypothetical mature Manziel, I would personally spend the rest of my time in a tree bowhunting on my private estate). I would do all of this because....."Johnny Manziel signed a 4 year, $8,248,596 contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $4,318,980 signing bonus, $7,998,596 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,062,149. In 2015, Manziel will earn a base salary of $794,936". This is not that hard. It's not hard to not be a fricking selfish, immature little shithead and be a responsible adult. If he could do this, then he'd be able to wipe his arse with $100 bills. It amazes me the sheer stupidity that exists on this planet.

Because he's not really a pro. He is immature. Still yearns for the feeling of being big man on campus. He's not a pro's pro he's a bro's bro.

On the other, let this kid live his life. Imagine if every single time you went out you had cameras and videos in your face trying in every way possible to catch you slipping.

Exactly. I'm not going through 10 pages and am late to this party. His "rehab" stint was total horseshite. The living embodiment of "sorry for partying". He's not strung out on skid row. Has he got a DUI? Beat a woman? Being 23 and stupid is not alcoholism. If so 75% of this board were alcoholics at one point. To succeed in rehab you need to hit rock bottom. Well Johnny Footballs "rock bottom" literally looks like a Bud Light "ready for anything" commercial.

Is it smart? Nope. If this video was taken on a game week Friday then he needs a slap. If it is Sunday before a Monday off? Or was it during a bye week?

All that said Johnny sucks on the field. That is all that matters. Michael Irvin partied like a rock star but could still produce.

Douche does not equal alcoholic. It cheapens rehab and alcoholism to call it such.

Does anyone else think Pettine is doing this to try to force a trade or a waive?

Pettine just seems like he's doing this based on what he wants but not what the GM wants.

He's the new coach. He needs to be the bad guy. Not the GM. I guess? But they are done with Johnny, and it is more than justified.

As I said above, I don't feel he is an alcoholic. He is just a crappy QB. He needs to eat, breathe, and sleep football for a season to be serviceable. He is not mature enough to do any of that. If the pitfalls of CLEVELAND are too much for him I don't know what town is right for him? As far as distraction and club scene goes.

If there were an over under on his career and it were 3.5 years, I would take the under.

He's way closer to fired than the new coach. He was the coach who drafted Manziel, not the new sheriff in town.

Damn, he is? It's Cleveland. No care.

I assumed they had a change already.

Actually he might not be, it's Cleveland so I lose track. Either way he's close to getting fired.

ETA: Double checked, he is.

I don't think trading up for and drafting Manziel was Pettine's call. I think that came straight from Jimmy Haslam.

On the Fox pregame show this morning, Jay Glazer reported that not only did Manziel lie to the Browns about the video, he also asked other people to lie to the Browns too:

"He lied to the Cleveland Browns. And what I mean by that is he told the Browns that video was old. And then, making it worse, he called the people involved with that and said, 'Hey, cover this up for me, make sure they think it’s old as well.' That is why Johnny Manziel has been demoted all the way to number three."

Had a feeling there was more to it than the partying. That guy is a shithead and continually violates the faith the org placed in him. Total garbage character.

The Browns organization is a bunch of beta clowns for not already cutting him.

Me too. Always thought there was some sort of betrayal of trust. I was thinking that he promised not to party, etc. But lying to your employer is right up there.

That's obviously not a good look. But because the Browns are so incompetent is the reason he went to those lengths to hide it.
