They wanted to fly him for a reason? Must've been bad.

Who knows how long those hookers left him in there. I'm sure his caliber of girls hauled arse the second he passed out to pursue other earning potential.

I hope the things that have happened to him in his life never happen to you.

Not trying to convince you to have sympathy, but you should be empathetic of where other people are and where they've come from. His dad was a heroin addict, and his mom died when he was a kid. Dude is from a really rough neighborhood where a lot of his friends that weren't 6'10 and athletic died or went to jail. People don't choose to be drug addicts, and when you come from the type of background he comes from, there's a good chance you'll go down a similar path. No amount of money is going to change who you are. Unfortunately for Lamar, being out of basketball probably gave him too much free time.

It's easy to point and cast stones at someone in this type of situation, but I highly doubt that you come from an environment similar enough to where you understand or can appreciate his struggle. You're also a Bamatard, so there's that.

Agreed. Very humiliating way to go.

Once you're dead, I don't think humiliation comes into play anymore. Who is left to be humiliated?

I don't have a lot of reaction to this not because I'm insensitive. It's just that it's a guy I don't know, have never met, and didn't follow for really any reason. Lots of people are addicts, and lots of people die from it. I watch intervention...good show.

I love seeing the hard asses come in and make jokes, and say no sympathy. How perfect are your lives? While i have never battled addiction, i have seen it first hand. Its nothing to joke about. A man is fighting for his life right now and some people are rushing to make jokes and/or take shots at him. Was overdosing in a brothel a honorable thing? No, but we have all made mistakes, we all have our own battles. No one has the right to judge. You never know, next time it could be you or someone in your family.

Then I would care about it. This, I just don't. Sad story for sure, but he's just some random dude to me.

sometimes you just got to respect a man for dying while doing something he loved..

I guarantee that these types of Odom jokes are now going to get rolled into the NBA meme collection

Tough to be an addict if you never try it. I'm all for a free society, but there are repercussions to every choice you make.

no one has asked you to care, just like no one here would care if it happend to someone in your family. My post was just for some insensitive people to not make jokes and have some respect at a time when a man is dying/dead. Which is what anyones family would ask during a time like this.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but when you're a public figure and you go out after a 3 day frick bender at a whorehouse, some jokes/backlash should not be surprising.

Of course there are, and I don't think anyone would argue that he's making sound decisions. What I'm saying is that it can be a slippery slope depending on a number of factors that we don't understand since: A. We aren't addicts, and B. We don't know who he is or his life. Because of those reasons, I try not to judge people that go through this kind of stuff.

Millions of people are able to drink alcohol responsibly without it leading anywhere. Those same people are able to use drugs recreationally without it becoming a problem. He's not one of those people, obviously. I'm not smart enough or well-versed enough on addiction to say definitively, but I doubt he woke up one day and just started smoking crack or shooting heroin.
