Joe Paterno can rot in hell.
That being said, I don't believe this was a NCAA issue, it was a criminal issue.

That school should not even have athletics for allowing kids to be used by FOOTBALL staff...
So, if anything, Penn State got off light for what they did.

So you are saying that the NCAA punished PSU for academic cheating which didn't happen when they had the perfect reason to nail them in the face that they covered up for a crime that is deemed probably one of the worst in american society.

You won't get much sympathy here but you're right.
What happened was terrible.
That being said, the penalties were handed down due to the mob.
This wouldn't have been as big of a deal if it didn't involve sports. Child molesters are arrested daily. People are killed daily for no reason. The government infringes on our privacy daily. Nobody gives a shite.

It became a "football thing" the minute Penn State administration and Joe PA decided to handle things they way they did to protect the football program. You can try and spin this out any way you want but thats the real bottom line. Most of you all are rightfully appalled at the institutions that put the betterment of said institution in front of properly handling turning over of child molesters and rapists in almost every other situation yet somehow when Penn State did it there is a loon faction that comes with these sideways arguments.
Its pretty amazing.

Penn State harbored pedos.. The St. Louis Cardinals glorify men that drunk drive, kill themselves and kill their girlfriend.. etc. We obviously need to take a long look at the sports culture in America today. Not much has changed since Penn State..
