I wont?

Because I do not think LSU wins over the likes of Towson, ULL, ULM, are not as bad as beating Miami?

People get so caught up in strength of schedule nowadays that they forget about record. It's a poor understanding of statistics by the average sports fan that causes this IMO. People don't think understand there is a big difference in probability of beating a team you are better than 12/13 times versus 10/13 times.

Home win against Stanford doesn't look good enough to make them top 4 with a loss.

derp, which is why they are not ranked top 4.

good thing the season is only half way completed and they will have opportunities to prove their legitimacy

You listed them as a quality win. My post was facetious and laughing at you in general for trying to classify that as a good win, and even arguing it's merit after being called out. Good to see you crawfishing though and backing off. I think the "it's a better win than ULL and Towson" is a nice card to play

So if LSU beat Miami this site would say it was not a quality win? You can not be serious?

I never said Miami was a really really good team or a great team. I said it was a quality win. Then I listed the likes of ULL ULM etc to show you that Notre Dame usually plays a much tougher schedule than you want to credit them for.

Now the schedule in 2 to 3 years will take a hit due to the psuedo ACC membership.

That's a fair point. If LSU, Bama, ND, etc.. played nothing but FCS schools and went undefeated, it doesn't necessarily mean they are bad.

BUT....that is not the argument here. The argument is that ND is overrated.

Based on the OP's statistics, they don't win fare well against ranked teams. (Especially highly ranked teams in bowl games)

Yet every year the Irish get touted as a top program and receive high rankings only to to forcibly removed from a top bowl game because of random losses to crap teams or get blown out in any major bowls they go to.

They produce NFL talent. They aren't trash, and currently deserve a spot in the top 25.

But by definition, they are overrated at #6.

It's absurd that Notre Dame is still thought as elite.

Not in a thread specifically talking about how LSU can't win the really big games for being given the status of an "elite" program.

Which for the record, LSU hasn't really been elite since your convenient 2012 time frame, so I'm not sure how this applies at all. The OP specifically talks about the last 15 years. So since, 1999. If you want to talk about Notre Dame's glorious run from 2012 up until now, you are free to start that thread. It is a run that every LSU fan truly envies.

They need to win a BCS game first

And I never said they played a bad schedule. I said at some point shouldn't they have to win their thoughest games?

Um, the year they went to the title game, they were not ranked preseason top 25.

This year, they were ranked #17, so it appears, recently, they are being underrated.

thought this was a "fact" thread?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Baby steps. Keep it within 1 score would be a good start.

Which they have and done in the past 3 years. I mean if you want to cherry pick years ok, I will go back and say they havent. But if you want to say LSU has won their toughest games, using same criteria you are for ND, you are wrong.

You cant judge ND any different than you judge LSU if you want to be truthful with yourself.

Let's take a scale of 1-10 (1 being bad teams, 10 being good teams)

Is playing 12 games against a bunch of 4's & 5's tougher than playing 3-4 3's and 4's and 6 teams who are 7-10's?

Playing teams like ULM, ULL, or whomever else then playing Bama, Auburn, etc... is more impressive to me than playing Purdue straight across the board.

In any case, I'm not sure why LSU (or any other team for that matter) is involved in this discussion. It contributes nothing to the argument that ND is overrated vs underrated.

Certainly you can see why that is debatable.

and what have they done to deserve moving up 11 spots?

The only legit game on their schedule is FSU and they lost.

OP's facts have been ignored by pro ND posters from the get go. Touting miami as a legit win. That's when I knew it was going to shite.
