Like Ole Miss? Because you could replace Notre Dame with Ole Miss in your original post and take away the prestige and tradition and you'd essentially have the same thing. Is the Alabama win more impressive than Stanford? Yes. But all other things considered there is little to differentiate between the two.

I'm still unsure what this "era" really is other than taking ND from laughingstock to decent-good yet overrated program

Since the start of the 2012 season ND has beaten

OU
Miami
Stanford twice
Michigan St

Do I need to continue? Because LSU does not have the same amount of quality wins.

Dude, they can hang with anybody this year IMO. They already proved that once, although FSU is not what they were last year. Everybody is jerking off over the SEC West's depth with the Miss. schools doing well, but I think it's an obvious sign that the big players like LSU and Bama are down. Don't be shocked if ND/Mich St./Oregon/OSU gets in the playoff, that they win the whole thing. Not because those schools are that great, but because we have a year with no superpower.

This thread has nothing to do with LSU. Convenient you used the 2012 season. As Rocket would like to do, please stick to the "Brian Kelly era", then get back to me.

With that said, ND can still lose two more games (UCS and Louisiville). 50% chance they lose at least one of those IMO

Never said they were garbage...in fact, I explicitly said they weren't. ( LINK)

Irrelevant if you aren't winning games against other top programs (See OP's stats against top teams as of late)

which means in reality they are pretty fricking good and this place is jealous of them and do not understand the allure of Notre Dame.

Stop being so sensitive Nancy.

What win does LSU have that is "great"?

They beat Ole Miss @ home, like they are supposed to do.

So you're dismissing a win against a #3 team? LSU's win over Ole Miss Saturday is an exponentially bigger win than any the Irish have had (or will have had) this year.

Again, see OP's stats on the Irish. Then compare that to the top teams LSU has beaten.

The Irish are overrated and get by on the prestige of their name. They aren't trash, but their scheduling and inability to win games against ranked opponents vs their current ranking makes them overrated.

I agree and never said otherwise. But at some point you need a win to prove your worth right? Not a "good, close, respectable loss".

If only 4 get a shot at a title, I'd hope they give the shot to teams with nice wins. Home win against Stanford doesn't look good enough to make them top 4 with a loss.

I can tell you have not been on this board much then.

Do you not know Miami was supposed to be the Irish by 30?

Miami is and was better than most of the teams LSU beat during this time.

Exactly, ND isnt elite this year, far from it; but no other team is, that is why they have a chance to make the final 4.

Next year is NDs chance to be "elite" (returning 20/22 starters)

What I am dismissing is the Ole Miss win as being a great win. It was a very good win. But it was @ home, where LSU is supposed to win.

The Mississippi schools got their boost from beating an aTm team that was over ranked and by playing at home.

I think Notre Dame on a neutral field would beat LSU. At Death Valley get beaten, and in South Bend win by a large margin.

So home wins against top 3 teams simply "don't count"?

LSU was an underdog in that game. So no, the tigers weren't "supposed to win" that game.
