LSU/BAMA was awful. I remember not even caring to tune in until after the half. Wasn't it also the lowest rated too?

It had a higher TV rating than the Oregon/Auburn matchup, as well as Bama-Notre Dame.

LINK

Texas-USC had the highest with 21.7.

So what? I know plenty of FSU fans staying in Las Vegas.

Look you barners spent your wad on driving to Atlanta to see your team get some hardware. That's great. But no way are Auburn fans scratching up change to buy a plane ticket to California, a hotel room, and a ticket to watch a 9 point dog.

FSU fans on the other hand, didn't have to travel to watch their team beat Duke. Everybody knew we were going to the ship.

3x as many Auburn fans here in Pasadena than FSU fans. SEC passion on display.

If this game were in New Orleans or Miami, it would be a hard ticket to get. However, pulling two teams from the Southeast all the way to Pasadena may result in some lower demand than usual. Not to mention, the weather is really hampering flights.

I'll go with yes as I really don't hear any chatter about this game in everyday life. Bama vs LSU was probably close to as irrelevant here in Ohio though too, but I would say was talked about more due to SEC vs SEC.

it was the perfect storm of football games. you probably had the 2 best football teams of the past 10 years playing each other featuring 2 of the greatest players of all time. one of the few games that lived up to the incredible hype.

i think its because neither team is a "national brand" a la notre dame, texas, alabama, etc.

FSU has a national brand...or at least did...the dust was kind of blown off of it during the year (a lot thanks to JW)

i can't believe the LSU-Bama rematch got those ratings. i'd figure that game would have been the lowest by far

As a point of reference, the worst seats in the house for last year's title game were going for $1,000. Same for the LSU-Bama game the year before.

$1000 a ticket? frick that.

difference between fsu and an alabama, texas, notre dame etc is that fsu's program only dates back 30-40 years, while the other teams have been great for 100 years. That's why notre dame and alabama are national brands, they have generations of fans. fsu is more comparable to miami and florida.

something's off on the numbers posted earlier... AU/Oregon is the highest rated cable program in TV history... Bama/Notre Dame is 2nd... at least that's what everyone was saying after last year's BCSNCG.

Flights from Florida to Cali are being cancelled?

And yes, this game is being anticipated by fans who want to see the SEC lose. They feel this is their best shot, and should stop the run of SEC titles and shut the SEC media and fan bases up.

We shall see!

The BCS title game went to a Monday night in 2006 correct?

That may influence some of the numbers depending on if people were still off from work and on holiday as opposed to the games now where people have to take vacay the first full week of the year

Not for sure but that could be a cause. For example, USC/Texas was on a Wednesday and OSU/Miami was a friday night

Had the most viewers for a game on ESPN I believe. It only had a higher rating than 4 other BCS championship games.

The fact that $275 is below face value probably factors into the equation.

The price point exceeds demand. Welcome to the market. Ticket prices have been rising much faster than inflation and its well past time for a correction.
