Correct , only I add that the coaches should be investigated and charged as well. I have a hard time believing that these kids would do this without being told by a coach or coaches. Ban the coaches from ever coaching again and criminally charge the kids and ban them from ever playing any high school sport again.

My football coach would have them running the gauntlet several times and then it would be up/downs, gassers, and I20's until they puked.

Rinse and repeat each and every practice till they quit or hung in.

My coach made players run the gauntlet if a teacher called him (I played before cell phones) and told him someone was being disruptive in class, late to class, skipping class, failed a test, or being disrespectful to a teacher.

My coach was an old school OL who payed a few years with the oilers. He didn't tolerate laziness or disrespectful layers.

Even if the kid has "his side of the story" and it's legit that the ref made racists remarks then there are other , more intelligent , correct ways to address that issue. So the parents statement is just as dumb as the players actions.

i'd suspend the whole team for one game just to encourage the "good" teammates to police their team

that's how it works with ineligible players. the whole team suffers for one kid so that should be the case here

This is what one of the kid's father said...

I have advised my son to let the school put out the response to that misconceived video. Once that happens I will be more than happy to share with you and to share my feelings about an unfortunate incident.

So what we saw on the video didn't actually happen...?

If we're being honest with ourselves, these two jackasses did what the vast majority of us imagine ourselves doing when watching football.

Need to know what the bad call that official made before it can be determined if that was justified.

He called them boy and used the N word.

Why won't they show the previous players getting ejected from game. i believe the officials made a call to eject previous players from game. We don't know if those previous ejection calls were bad enough for this revenge to be justified.

According to media reports, the two players have been suspended from the team and from school. There will be a "due process" hearing on Tuesday as the investigation continues.

As a retired coach and principal, looks to me that the school district is getting its ducks in a row by following Federal law by having the hearing. You usually have one of those when you plan to suspend a student to alternative school in Texas.

Someone is going to have to file charges -- the referee affected.

News is reporting one is a sophomore so he is likely under 17 and would be only charged as a minor. The other was a senior which probably puts him in the adult range, but again the referee has to file.

The referees' association says he wants to.
