That's a bad cheap shot and the kids should face dismissal and criminal charges IMO.

Having said that, I don't think it is close to the worst thing I've ever seen on the football field. It is bad because it is a cheap shot directed at the back of a non player - but we've seen any number of injuries and hits that look a ton worse (and were undoubtedly inflicted with equal or greater malice).

When I played the coach would have dragged them off the field by the face mask and beat the shite out of them.

Thanks...trying to cut through the BS and post the facts as the story evolves.

Latest is:

Police in Texas now investigating players who targeted and hit official

No arrests yet; the police said they would issue a report this week.

And you will die of a drug overdose in a motel. Is that fair to say?

Skin color doesn't stop you from being a piece of shite. These two humans are pieces of shite regardless of skin color. In what reality would these 2 pieces of shite being white, not make them pieces of shite?

Piece of shite ought to be in jail. If not, he will be sooner rather than later. frick him.

Did you watch the first part of that video? It was 2 players that hit the official, not 1. Both should face charges.

Texas HS Ref Collision to Be Treated as Assault on a School Official

....according to the school district.
The official has lawyered up for legal action against anyone who slanders/libels him by saying he used a racial slur.

No word yet from the police, the HC, or the UIL.

Wow, I just read the ESPN article and realized that they were getting revenge for 2 other players that got kicked out. Just amazing.

John Jay had FOUR players ejected during the game. Just prior to the incident, one for hitting the opposing QB after he took a knee at the snap and the other for throwing a punch

So a majority of the team is TPOS. This sounds like a dirty coached team and EVERY football coach should be fired and criminally charged for teaching these kids this. Shut down the football team for the rest of the year and start with a new staff and players next year. These kids clearly have no control and think they are untouchable.

Edit- what's taking so long for these TPOS to be arrested? fricking animals.

If this is true, and the coaches demanded the ref "pay for cheating us" then he should see jail time.

The kids are shite heads, but having a coach breed this mentality is so fricked up. Some kids will trust a coach more than any other person in their life... This is a much bigger crime if the coach ordered this.

John Jay shouldn't be allowed to play football the rest of the year. They are obviously harboring an environment where you can act like a TPOS and get away with it. Frick these POS. I hope the coaches and the two players are banned for life from Texas HS Football. Send those mother fricking thugs to jail

Here's some details:

SAN ANTONIO - While promising to investigate two students accused of assaulting a game official during a football game, the Northside Independent School District also said
quote:

it would file a complaint over two racial slurs allegedly used during the game.

quote:

According to district leaders, Breed apparently made a statement during the game to the players, saying, "... that guy (referee) needs to pay for cheating us." It's believed the Jay team was frustrated with various calls made during the game. NISD says that alleged comment by Breed may have led to the assault on the official.

quote:

In addition, the district claims allegations have been made that the field official used two racial slurs during the game. In response to those claims, NISD said it would file a complaint with the Texas Association of Sports Officials.

Through an attorney for the Texas Association of Sports Officials, the field official denied using any racial slur.

It does appear to be the fallback.

Question is, even if he did, does that make it not a crime for the players to physically batter him?

I can call someone an a-hole, but that doesn't mean they can break my jaw.

Based on what's been said, claiming the ref used racial slurs seems to be a last ditch effort to justify something. Pathetic.
