re: ESPN: Memphis out as potential Big 12 expansion candidate

There are two haves in the Big 12, and we know who they are. I'm talking about the other 8. ("Haves" refers to revenue sharing. I know Baylor has money, but they get less B12 money than UT).
And I'm guessing that the only school that doesn't want another Texas school is UT. Nobody outside of Texas would kind, of course, and the other Texas schools don't perceive such a threat.

What is your definition of a have? Success or money?

Definitely makes the most sense to go after BYU and Tulane. Then consider like CSU.
BYU and Tulane expand their market.

I mean the slice the Big12 gives them. UT and OU get more than the rest.

BYU does not need the Big 12. They have their own network, a winnable conference in the WCC, an auto bowl tie in, and an option that will make the Banco Ambrosia want their business.

What exactly is the conference's incentive for playing UH like a fiddle?

BYU makes the most sense to me.

They slowly eliminate the top candidates so ESPN & Fox pay them not to expand.

BYU would have to drop their no Sunday game rule if they want in for all sports and not football only. Tulane is still in the mix because of location and academics. Remember it's the presidents who will select members not athletic directors. I know TV Money is tied to sports but nobody said the will use logic.

The Big 12 can accommodate BYU's no Sunday...Civil Rights Act of 64 encourages them to do so (just like it encourages employers to accommodate). They'll have to do something about the honor code, however.

that's a bad move by the Big 12. Memphis had a lot of potential for them.

Tulane- the only reason I bet they are even being considered is because the hot bed of talent in Nola and La.
Academic profile, NOLA as a destination, better geographic fit than the Florida schools.

They gotta add Cincinnati or UConn, right? So the eers have someone to play with.

Nah. If they want to add a legitimate future national title contender in football, the sport that matters, then they'll definitely add Houston. Otherwise, they risk ceding entry into Texas to another major conference.

Just add the two schools with bcs wins and be done with it

My vote would be Colorado State and either Tulane or Houston

Which one? The B1G, ACC, and PAC-10 aren't going to want a geographic outlier and the SEC already has the Aggies.

Which ever wants to add the eighth largest market and best recruiting region in the country.
