Dan Uggla...he hit .233, .220 and .179 in his 3 seasons with Atlanta.

Definitely "one of" the worst ever, but I don't think it's even close to the worst.

Pablo Sandoval for 5 years/$95M comes to mind. It's a lot less money than Pujols got, but Pujols had more HR/RBI in 2017 than Sandoval did in his entire run in Boston.

The Dodgers gave Hector Olivera $62M for 6 years, ended up trading him, and now he's in jail having played only 30 games in majors.

Homer Bailey at 6 years/$105M is pretty laughable as well.

Mike Hampton getting the largest contract in history at the time of 8 years/$121M only to post a 5.75 ERA over his first two seasons in Colorado...

Puljos wasn't even their highest paid player in 2017. His salary was $26M. The Angels paid Josh Hamilton $26.5M.

In 2016, the Angels paid Hamilton about the same, and also were on the hook to CJ Wilson for $20M. Neither played an inning for the Angels.

At least CJ's contract ended last year & the Angels contract with Hamilton just ended.

The problem with Puljos is that he still has 4 years left on his contract, and his salary increases every year.

Sounds like a good team to take Stanton's contract off of Jeter's hands.

The biggest problems for Pujols are that he's the slowest player in baseball and the shift. Take those two things away and he's still a .300 hitter.

The Miguel Cabrera contract will end up being worse by the time it's all said and done. At least Pujols had three or four good seasons with decent power numbers for the Angels before he went in the tank. It's two years into Cabrera's extension and he already looks done as a player. His bat speed has slowed down considerably, his power is gone and he can't run or field.

Mark Davis/Storm Davis contracts with the Royals in 1990 were absurd at the time.

Mark went from Cy Young/MLB saves leader to 7 saves in 3 seasons.

Storm was 10-19 in 2 seasons with an ERA approaching 5.

That was the door slamming shut on the Royals being a competitive team in the 70s-80s and the door opening to 2 decades of horrible baseball.

Hard to believe he has regressed into a .240 hitter.

True, because ownership had a 9 year deal for 200ish million on the table.

Had Angels owner not been a dumbass, he's still a Cardinal.
