Where would the Big Ten even go if they were to improve football quality? Oklahoma? Texas? The options are limited and unrealistic.

I agree; the only options are Pitt/ND in the area if you ask me. Neither of those are likely

Would be cool to see this: EAST: Ohio State Penn State Michigan State Michigan Maryland Rutgers Indiana Connecticut* WEST: Nebraska Wisconsin Iowa Illinois Purdue Minnesota Northwestern Kansas* B1G basketball would be flat out amazing. I want this to happen!

Sweet Jesus if MSU stays great(they won't) and PSU gets good again(they will), this may be the most lopsided conference alignment ever

That'll be a great trip from Lincoln to Storrs for the fans. Might as well add Hawaii and Alaska-Fairbanks

With the new playoff format, having 9 conference games and a championship game is going to almost be mandatory. UConn cant get that in the AAC

???

the AAC adds Navy next year and will have a championship game.

The B1G doesnt need to add "quality" football programs. What the B1G needs are for schools like Michigan, Nebraska and Penn St to get their heads out of their asses and become relevant again. A conference with Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St, Nebraska, Michigan St and Wisconsin all at the top of their game is as good as any other conference out there. Yes i said it!

Really unsure why fans give a shite about TV markets anyways

You serious? Conference expansion centers directly on TV markets.

Too bad you are losing the demographics game and the chances of this happening is very low.

In terms of what? Population? Every state in the midwest region had population gains...minus Michigan. This notion that the Midwest is losing population is false and imo has created an image that has hurt the conference. The South loves to talk about how they are gaining population, and while true to a certain degree, a lot of those gains are in the Hispanic community. Ohio and Pennsylvania are still top 10 in this country for high school football. Plus the B1G just brought in the NY/NJ and BAL/DC markets to recruit in. I respectfully disagree that the chances are "very low".

UConn isn't AAU, how the hell could they get into the B1G?

UConn isn't in the Big East. They're in the American.

Doesn't the Big ten have a rule that any new state must touch a current state?

They once did but no longer.

so it would make sense to add a team from the Midwest, like an Iowa St.

I don't think they would add them because they already have Iowa.

Kansas is a possibility (AAU member) but that messy Big 12 GOR could pose a problem.

Would Mizzou be in their plans?

Exactly.

And people in this thread including tOSU/B1G lovers aren't really putting forth correct information.

Iowa State/Pitt aren't happening. Ever. Iowa and Penn State would reject that before it even was discussed.

Kansas is possible I suppose, they are AAU, bring in a new market (don't really know how big it would be though).

I think that Delany is going after UVA, UNC and Georgia Tech. Who knows their interest.

Also, how will ND function in the current set-up of the playoff system? I think that may push them into the Big Ten, MAYBE.

I think that if the B1G wanted Missouri, they would have pushed for them before their SEC move and would have gotten them.

They pretty much fit all the requirements (AAU, TV Market, etc.)
