Ya good point. Conferences aren't signing bigger and bigger tv deals.

This is single handidly the biggest driving force behind conference realignment. TV sets and money!

I've read that it's not so much about eyeballs watching a TV or "big markets." It's about the fee structure that once a B1G school is in a state, they can get more money out of the cable providers/subscribers.

People hate on him but he makes the moves he wants. His conference makes a ton of money for an inferior product (at least in the previous 5 years or so, they may get better if MSU stays at a high level and PSU gets back there).

He is going to bring in cities that bring in viewers, bringing in $, regardless of if they are bringing in the "best" teams. Outside of ND, there are no really good teams that the B1G would want in the Midwest or NE. Pitt may be the best left, without trying to go the Virginia route (which I would support)

With the new playoff format, having 9 conference games and a championship game is going to almost be mandatory. UConn cant get that in the AAC. They have to be seriously looking at finding a new home. The B1G looks like a pretty good landing spot. The only question is that if the B1G did ever add UConn, who would be the 16th member? Remember, the B1G is going to EAST/WEST divisions, so it would make sense to add a team from the Midwest, like an Iowa St. When all is said and done, i still believe that we will end up with 4 conferences of 16 members.

I politely disagree. Cable TV isn't going anywhere in the near future.

The cable providers have us by the balls when it comes to sports and it is no coincidence that these TV contracts are getting bigger and bigger.

Doesn't the Big ten have a rule that any new state must touch a current state?

Maryland and NJ border Penn so OK but Conn doesn't border a Big Ten state

I think Kansas would be a good addition myself, if I had to add one. UConn would be better than Rutgers imo, at least they're good at something.

Adding Rutgers, Maryland, Kansas and UConn would make football even more pathetic.
