Knick hall of famer Walt "Clyde" Frazier.
i was a grad student at southern illinois and two years past my hoops prime.
one or two packs a day.
after watching me demolish freshmen in a pickup game he asked me to workout with him so he could transition from sf to guard.

Played against Clint Dempsey in the Challenge Cup in Dallas. We won a shootout in the semis to make the final and proceeded to lose like 6-1 to Dempsey and the Texas Longhorns.

I scored the lone goal in a 1-1 draw one time vs Jackson FC and it was on their National team keeper Mike Ueltschey who would go on to win the National Championship at North Carolina and play in the MLS.

Arnaz Battle ran straight over and through me to score a TD once when I tried to wallop him at the 5 as I had the angle on him. He was running down the sideline and I couldn't even force him out of bounds. Not my proudest moment.

I had 2 pick sixes, a forced fumble and recovery, and a QB sweep for a TD against St. Joseph's when I played both ways in the 5th grade. I'll have to bust out the VHS for my kids to watch me dominate Town South Youth Sports back in the late 80s. The most famous/notorious guy from that league was a running back from Shreve Island I think that was the Jim Brown of the league. Tyrone Demery, I think was his name. He murdered somebody when he was like 16 or 17 and is serving life at Angola. Surely somebody on here played with him or remembers him from back then.

what were the circumstances?

one college game vs?
many scrimmages?

stories?

ive got good ones and funny ones.
once i was vs a future aba guard in aau. i had 8 points at the half and my side was only down 1 and they had a couple of future pros and we were just a decent team. our two best guys were injured and not dressed. future aba guy says to me as we go off at half you wont get another point.
i made one fg. lol.
they crushed us second half.

Had to unenviable task of trying to block Tiger great Rydell Melancon. That dude was fast as frick and I can't say that I slowed him down very much.

So, I got that going for me, which is nice...…...

Also, I played 18 holes with Will Clark at CCL a few years ago. He won.

Football

Butler By'Note Vashon HS tOSU

Playoffs in football, and i nearly crippled him on a kick return. Got him good from the side, he hit his own guy and landed on his neck. Thought dude was crippled. He was damn good in HS and had a decent ZCollege career at tOSU

In High school his last name was ,"Buy-Note", when he got to tOSU, he became Butler Buy-No-Tey

A guy named Daryl Pollard in a YMCA hoops league. He was a strike player for the 49ers during 1987. Ended up sticking with them and started in the Broncos-49ers Super Bowl at corner. I was my teams best player and he was his teams best player. He checked me and I never scored. Dude's athleticism was unreal.

Several University of Arizona hoops players in pickup games at the student rec center. Once pumped faked Reggie Geary so bad the whole gym laughed. After that he whooped my arse.

Ahmad Brooks (UVA, Bengals, 49ers) blocked my punt when I was a sophomore. He blew through the line and absolutely crushed me before I had even released the ball from my hand. I wasn't sure if my helmet was still attached to my head.

Pretty sure he was the Parade All-American defensive player of that year (2001)

Dwight Freeney. 6'4", 266 lbs ran a 4.48 forty and did 28 reps on the bench at the combine. Was a freak.

Carl Pavano in baseball (was an LSU commit from Connecticut as well)

Chris Drury in hockey

Khalil Mack before he became what he now is.

I went to Martin County HS in Stuart, FL.

Really wasn’t well known, and he had a decent year, but I’m sure no one thought he would make the NFL (even directional FL schools didn’t recruit him).

I played with Justin Simmons

I watched Joe Delany run past me in a blur. We won the game but we never stopped him. The coach bitched at me for not tackling him. All I could do was shrug my shoulders.

Played football against Jameis Winston in 9th grade. I think I tackled him once.
