"March 28th, 1994 he called me and said 'You want to coach the Cowboys?' And I said 'Hell, I didn't know the job was open Jerry.' And he said 'It's fixin' to be' and I said 'Well, call me when it's open.

So he called me the next day. He had fired Jimmy [Johnson], and he called me the next day and said 'come on down.' And that was my interview. That's exactly it. That was all that was said."

"I spent four years with him, won a Super Bowl and when I left, and said 'When I got here, you told me there were 500 coaches who could win a Super Bowl with this team. Well I did it and there's 499 left out there [so go get one].' But anyway we've had fun. Jerry's a great guy."

When he would be on the Hardline show on the Ticket, he was great. They would count the hells, damns, and craps he would say

Lifelong Cowboys fan here. I hate jerry Jones. He fired Tom Landry on a golf course. He fired Jimmy Johnson because he was jealous of Jimmy's genius when it came to team building. frick that guy.

Yeah, the Tom Landry firing was handled poorly. Tom was a legend in Irving, and Jerry handled it very poorly. Had he brought in someone other than Jimmy, and they had struggled, somebody in Dallas would have killed him.

yep

i live in Dallas and have dealt with him for 25 years and he still fascinates me.

He takes a ton of shite and is a cartoon character, but he really is a great guy and a very smart business man. His kids are good people too.

Jimmy spoke at my company's sales meeting last year and he spoke about the firing.

he said he was miserable and it was 2 uber Alpha males trying to run the team and it wasn't working. he said he had a ton of respect for him, but they just couldn't work together.

He said he regrets nothing and doesn't hold a grudge at Jerry. Said hes a good dude. Said technically Jerry fired him but had he not he would have quit before the next season started.
